Mouso core worker process

My computer (Windows 10, 64-bit Build 19041) is constantly waking up from sleep and then going back to sleep for a short time only to repeat the cycle.  I ran sleep diagnostics on the Windows PowerShell as administrator i.e. powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics.  The report from yesterday (5/31/2020) indicates that my computer awoke from sleep 50-55 times during the course of the day until at about 8:00 p.m., I decided that it was better to fully shut down the computer rather than have these continued cycles.  The common thread in all these awakenings from sleep is MoUSO Core Worker Process (MoUsoCoreWorker.exe).

 Why is this happening and what can I do to eliminate this totally annoying phenomena?

    1- Open a command prompt window.

    2- Type the following command:

    powercfg /requests

    and check that it is the MoUsoCoreWorker.exe service that blocks the sleep mode

    3- Open a Run window (Window + R), type the following command

    services.msc

    and press the Enterkey.

    4- The Services window opens. In the list of services, find the Windows Update service

    • Right-click on Windows Update and choose Stopfrom the menu.
    • Right-click the Windows Update service again and choose Startfollowed immediately by the Restartcommand in the menu.
    • Run Windows Update to install all pending updates and restart your computer.

    Now the MoUsoCoreWorker.exe process should no longer conflict with the Windows Update process and your PC's sleep mode should work properly again.

    Beyond ridiculous that letting WU do its thing isn't enough.  We have to force it to find "mystery" updates in order for the sleep function to work.

    There was this update that came through following the disabling of windows update and re-enabling. This seems to have fixed the issue... time will tell

    Yes indeed, patch Tuesday delivered a load of security updates following which it was back. Using the usual method I needed to force through:

    Quality Update

    2021-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for X64-based Systems (KB5000802)

    Once this was installed, PC appears to be sleeping again. However a word of caution the known issues state this update can cause BSOD with certain printers.

    That KB installed on its own via WU yet the computer still won't sleep. So tired of this.

    New basic task. Run as highest privilege. Also create another task 1 minute after but with start "wuauserv"

    Thanks. I have them entered; I'll see how my Task works and how the sleeping turns out.

    -wake computer or not

    -run whether computer is logged on or not

    -Windows 10
