Mouso core worker process

Now after months of not being able to sleep, my monitor is doing the opposite.  The monitor will now sleep, but won't wake up.  I have to cycle the monitor power a few times or reboot.

Nothing has changed apart from updates.

My computer (Windows 10, 64-bit Build 19041) is constantly waking up from sleep and then going back to sleep for a short time only to repeat the cycle.  I ran sleep diagnostics on the Windows PowerShell as administrator i.e. powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics.  The report from yesterday (5/31/2020) indicates that my computer awoke from sleep 50-55 times during the course of the day until at about 8:00 p.m., I decided that it was better to fully shut down the computer rather than have these continued cycles.  The common thread in all these awakenings from sleep is MoUSO Core Worker Process (MoUsoCoreWorker.exe).

This executable is a Microsoft programming element. 

 Why is this happening and what can I do to eliminate this totally annoying phenomena?

Hi Folks, I was having an issue with this exact same executeable, MoUsoCoreWorker.exe.

In my situation, on a Windows 10 workstation, I recently took the January 2021 Microsoft update, but schedule it to 5 days in the future. Subsequently, after launching "Task Manager" on my workstation, and looking at the Detail tab, I noticed that this MoUsoCoreWorker.exe was growing and using over 1 GB memory. The next day, I checked again and it had grown to over 5 GB of memeory, which was reaching 85% (of my 16 GB of RAM).

Subsequently, I did some troubleshooting and decided to launch Windows Services. I stopped / restarted the "Windows Update" service and after a short amount of time the memory utilization for this MoUsoCoreWorker.exe decreased from 6 GB to 16 KB.

In summary, the restart of the "Windows Update" service fixed the root cause of my problem, and I didn't need to reboot my home PC to remedy the issue. I still have the flawed Microsoft Windows monthly update for January 2021 to apply.

Wow, this is incredibly annoying on multiple fronts.

First one being that Microsoft not doing anything about this issue after 7 months of users reporting issues.  Does not even look like an MVP or anyone from MS has even bothered to come here to help.

Second, none of the work arounds work for me.  

I have no pending updates or optional updates

This line does not work 

powercfg -requestsoverride process MoUsoCoreWorker.exe execution

I tried unplugging all my USB device just in case that one of them had an issue, nothing!!  It magically stopped working some time ago and I thought some future update would fix it, nope, nothing.

The sleep script does not work.   I finally created a script to shutdown the PC because that was my one and only remaining option that works.

As if by magic the PC is now sleeping again. It hasn't failed since patch Tue 12/01.
