Mouso core worker process

My computer (Windows 10, 64-bit Build 19041) is constantly waking up from sleep and then going back to sleep for a short time only to repeat the cycle.  I ran sleep diagnostics on the Windows PowerShell as administrator i.e. powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics.  The report from yesterday (5/31/2020) indicates that my computer awoke from sleep 50-55 times during the course of the day until at about 8:00 p.m., I decided that it was better to fully shut down the computer rather than have these continued cycles.  The common thread in all these awakenings from sleep is MoUSO Core Worker Process (MoUsoCoreWorker.exe).

- Power Requests

- \Device\HarddiskVolume5\Windows\System32\MoUsoCoreWorker.exe | START TIME | DURATION | TYPE | TOKEN | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 2020-05-31T18:18:53 | 0:00:01 | Execution | 0xffff8389192ab2e0 |

This executable is a Microsoft programming element.

Why is this happening and what can I do to eliminate this totally annoying phenomena?

In case you haven't noticed, MoUsoCoreWorker.exe is back preventing your computer from sleeping.  Again.

Actually, it's not, this time. My computer, slept and resumed from sleep correctly for about two months and then suddenly stopped this week. It would shut down most of the way and then pop back to full "on." To my surprise, powercfg /requests showed nothing. Update history showed nothing -- no failed updates during the 4.5-month life of the machine.

However, I remembered a few contributors to this forum mentioning that they'd solved their problem by installing an optional update. I looked. There were three, including one related to Intel Bluetooth, one relating to Intel WiFi, and one relating to the AMD chipset. I checked all three and let it do it's thing. When it finished, only one had actually been installed, the Intel-WiFi update. The other two remained in the list of uninstalled optional updates, but that one WiFi update was all it took to get the computer sleeping perfectly again.

So, even if MoUsoCoreWorker.exe doesn't show up in powercfg troubleshooting, the problem may still have something to do with MS Update. I don't think the update service, itself, was the culprit, but there was an optional update that was needed. Are all driver updates listed as "optional?"

    Happy New Year!

I had a false alarm with the PC not sleeping but as on this edit (Jan. 10) computers are still sleeping.  Is it possible it is fixed?

I started noticing that my PC was not going into sleep mode and I had to do something about it because it was disrupting my sleep!!

I noticed that the MoUsoCoreWorker process was present in my powercfg requests and it kept coming back.

Upon further investigation I found that someone mentioned that updating your PC may fix the issue.  I didn't believe it , but when I checked for updates I noticed that there was an issue, and it was showing that I had a failed update. There was also an option to download and install a new feature update for Win10.

I downloaded the feature update, installed it and restarted my machine. This enabled the update check to work on my PC again and it found an additional update to the .net framework. I installed that and restarted the PC again.

Then as a test I attempted to put the PC to Sleep by lowering the settings to 1 minute and it worked!!

This may not work for everyone but the first thing to do is -

Check to make sure that you don't have any issues with any Updates and that your PC is fully up to date.

I'm so happy because the noise was driving me insane at night and I couldn't sleep either.

Same here ... this must be addressed next update ... most annoying thing ...!!!

    You are very welcome ;)
