why my windows is not ready for update

I was often told as a child that "Patience is a virtue" !

Well yesterday my patience was rewarded when my Lenovo G570 was ready for the update.

Patience again was required as it took over four hours to complete the procedure.

Now I am a happy bunny and I hope all those who are also waiting that it was worth the while.

Please let me know if you find a solution ... it is worrying to see that they move to 2009 without fixing the issues some customers have upgrading to 2004..

I also installed the update assistant and it downloaded the 2020 update but at the end when it started to install it said there was a problem with the installation and reverted me back to my old 1909 version.  Wierd as the computer is only a year and a half old.  Don't believe I even want this update because they have a lot of glitches in it so that is why it has not been installed yet.  I am satisfied with my old version and do not want Microsoft's problems creeping into my computer.

I am seeing the same issues at my place of employment. I have Dell 3060's that will accept the 2004 update, and Dell 3060's that are saying that they are not ready for the update. A month after the 2004 rollout it showed up on my computer which is a Dell 3050 that it was ready. I didn't want to do that yet because of obvious reasons, but now it says my computer is not ready for that update now. Even though I have updated a few 3050's already to update 2004. Kind of weird how this is working out.

Unfortunately John's reply is not aligned with what I can see with my 80 laptops. I've got some laptops which are far more performing than others and yet the update is available for the HP 1,4Ghz and 4 GB ram but not for the Asus 2.8 Ghz and 8gb ram. So I'm wondering what are the criteria on which Microsoft bases its assessment.

I have noticed though that restarting a number of times the laptop while online seems to give you the chance of installing the 2004 update sooner. It's bizarre, but that?s what I'm seeing.

Furthermore, Microsoft has already released a further cumulative update for the 2004 version.

If anyone has any info on this topic, I'd be particularly interested.

Windows 10 Feature update 2004 won't immediately available for everyone because Microsoft is taking its usual gradual process to rolling out the upgrade, offering the upgrade in stages beginning with those whose devices Microsoft believes are the most likely to successfully install the update. If you don't receive the update yet, Microsoft possibly detect compatibility issues on your device, These holds are due to conflicts that could cause applications not to run correctly. In the past few days/weeks, Users still experiencing problems after upgrading to version 2004. Give the update a month or two to mature. This will let the Feature update fix it's own problems through patches along the way and be more stable. I would not recommend you to upgrade manually because of this ongoing issues.
