Media Feature Pack - version 2004 ( June 2020 )

To all users having troubles installing Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N edition build 2004 due to the empty list of Add a new Feature window. Note: if your OS is managed by your IT, you should contact your local IT support prior to installing any OS component by yourself.

Short story for IT pros:

install the capability using DISM's add-capability, CapabilityName (as of this article is published) is Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0

1. Make sure your Windows edition is really "N" or "KN" and your build version is above 1903.
   • Press <WIN>+<I> and click System icon, then scroll down the left menu to About and click it. Then scroll down the right panel to Windows specification. It must say:

Edition: Windows 10 N or Edition: Windows 10 Pro NVersion: 2004If your edition is not marked "N" or "KN", there is no need to install Media Feature Pack. If your version is below 2004, use this download link to get the installation file of Media Feature Pack for your OS. 2. Now we will start a command line window where we will check the availability of Media Feature Pack. - Press <WIN>+<R> and without pressing <ENTER> type cmd. Then hold <CTRL>+<SHIFT> and click OK. Depending on your OS settings, you will be asked for an Administrator access. Enter credentials of a user with administration priviledges and confirm by pressing Yes. Note: if you do not have system administration rights, you will not be able to install Media Feature Pack on your own. Please contact your OS administrator. - A new window pops up titled "Administrator: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\cmd.exe" (the path might be different).There will be a cursor next to C:\WINDOWS\system32> (the path again might be different). - In the window type: dism /online /get-capabilities | findstr Media - (confirm by pressing ENTER) - You should see these two lines:

Capability Identity : Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0

Capability Identity : Media.WindowsMediaPlayer~~~~0.0.12.0 - If there is no Media.MediaFeaturePack line, your OS does not have the feature option. Double check your OS version, you might not need the Media Feature Pack. Also your administrator or IT support might block the feature due to certain reasons, contact them first. Otherwise, in this case this manual will not help you. - Now type: dism /online /add-capability /capabilityname: Media.MediaFeaturePack~~~~0.0.1.0 - You might need to replace the 0.0.1.0 version text if theCapability Identity has shown a different one. - (confirm by pressing ENTER) - The program will show a precentage indicating the installation progress. - When successful, your will be asked to restart Windows. You really must restart it before using the media features. You can now safely close both windows we used in this manual. Save your work and restart.

Note: Some texts (excluding DISM commands) might be localized to your OS display language. Adjust steps accordingly.

Disclaimer: The DISM program is a very powerful tool and when used unprofessionally it could cripple your Windows installation. Use with extreme care. The DISM commands will use local installation sources and/or Windows Update – to choose a specific source, please consult the DISM manual.

Hello there .

Thank you for new update , My Windows is 10 pro N version 2004 - 6/11/2020 and OS build 19041.329 ,  also Windows system about show it as Experience pack  120,2202.1300 .

My Media player needs a new installation so I refer to Address as :  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack but there is no any suitable and related Media Feature Pack (  For example : Media Feature Pack - version ( June 2020 ) on .

I need installing it again , I am sure you know some of software works on base of Media player so if having no it users can't work with some of other softwares  .

Please Check it and let User having any I requested for .
