MS forced me to switch to 20H2 and low and behold, Event ID 65 started showing up again.

I now have to figure out how to prevent this forced switch since MS refuses to address this MAJOR issue w/ 20H2.

Beats me why MS would want to anger and inconvenience their customers like this.

MY HW changed from last summer (new PC build) and I specifically stayed away from 20H2 until positive, meaningful reports are produced that would lead me to believe MS addressed it.

I never saw these ridiculous errors / perf hits / eventual crashes until 20H2.

    My current HW:

    AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT

    GTX3070 (8GB VRAM)

    Asus X570-Plus w/ latest BIOS

    32GB Mushkin 3466Mhz RAM

Seems like the ID 65s MAY be related to GPUs w/ greater than 6GB VRAM. This is just an empirical observation.

So how do I prevent this excuse-for-an-OS version from being forced down my throat?

    Switch to a local account?

    Hello Prakhar,

Thanks for the reply and the additional troubleshooting steps.

    1)  I already have the lastest version of Visual C++ installed.  I went ahead and ran the exe anyway, and "repaired" the install and rebooted.

    2)  I ran the powershell command you supplied and ended up with several errors.  It appears it can't install several of the apps because they are currently in use...  Please let me know if you need me to run this another way when the resources are not in use.

    1. I created another user account and the error occurred while logged into that account as well.

    Please advise.  Thanks!

Hello, I am encountering the same exact issue as ProfessorCnile above.  I have followed all the proposed solutions listed above, with the exception of running in safe mode.  In addition, I've also done a clean re-install of Windows and downgrading the video drivers to a much earlier version.  I do not know what is causing this but it is literally impossible to run any 3d accelerated applications such as games - they invariably freeze up with massive audio stuttering and do not recover - I have to shut down the application through the task manager to regain control of the system, but I do not get blue-screen errors.  Here's a sample log file entry:

    Hi,

Thank you for replying with the updated information, and I apologize for the delayed response.

I have been researching on this issue, and I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Try installing the latest version of Visual C++ and see if the issue persists. Refer the article The latest supported Visual C++ downloads

Method 2: Re-register apps using PowerShell

    1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Now type in the command and hit EnterGet-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
    3. Restart the PC.

Method 3: Create a new user account

Create a new user account and check if the issue persists. Refer the article Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

Let us know how it goes. If the issue persists, we will certainly assist you further.
