Gidday all, I've been running into a issue with my GPU crashing and I have nailed it down to the error in event viewer " Failed with 0x57 retrieving AppModel Runtime status for package Windows. "

I have changed gpu drivers, completely uninstalled drivers, wiped my m.2 and reinstalled windows and nothing worked. Any ideas? Thank you

    Hi Gerald:

I updated to 20H2 and have had the same results.  I guess we can call this issue resolved.

The Notification Assistant is the cartoon balloon style icon completely to the right on the Desktop Task Bar.  If you left mouse you get a list of possible issues on the computer.  If you mouse right "Open Action Center, Focus Assist, Don't Show App Icons. and Don't Show Number of Notifications" action items appear.

Thanks, I see those two options, but JM881 said to turn off the fullscreen rule, any idea where to find that?

This is what I think JM881 is talking about - I left clicked on the Notification Assistant, then right clicked on Focus Assist (Crescent Moon icon), then Go To Settings. On the new window which opens, under the section "Automatic Rules," turn off the option "When I'm using an app in full screen mode."

Turning this option off hasn't stopped the error from being logged in Even Viewer though, but so far, it has stopped my computer from crashing/freezing. Plus, I haven't noticed any lag in a game when the error is happening and logged.

"The issue is caused by NVIDIA audio codecs which uses Virtual Audio Cable software. Same goes for AMD. "

I'm not so certain about that. The reason I say this is because, well, while I had my AMD drivers up, and I would launch Battlefront 2 for example, after it would finish loading, I would get a black screen for about five seconds and then the machine would restart. I decided to purge my PC of AMD's drivers and use CC to get rid of anything left in the registry that is associated with AMD's GPU drivers. Now with no AMD GPU drivers on the system, the game crashes in the same spot (fortunately it does not reset my pc anymore) but now I have this error "Failed with 0x57 retrieving AppModel Runtime status for package Windows." in the event viewer.
