Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 causing issues with credentials

Cross your fingers.  Just put on the latest (preview) fix for Windows 10 version 2004 today.  Doesn't explicitly list a fix, but my machine has survived a couple of restarts without prompting for a password. Since others though they had fixes that eventually turned out not to work, I'll update in few days on whether it is still working or not.

If you feel like trying it, do settings, Windows updates, Optional fixes.   Normally I would not recommend applying these optional fixes as sometimes the are bad or even old and superseded.  So Only apply for now if you really are willing to put up with possible new problems.

Updating 9/5/2020 to say that although the fix seems to increased the time between getting prompted, (managed 24 hours) it still hasn't completely fixed the problem.

Same issue here whereby both PST file and Mail profile are both randomly prompting for password when I open Outlook 2013 following Windows 10 Pro 2004 feature update.

Sometimes following a reboot and sometimes when I close and then open Outlook again.

Removed 'SSO_POP_Device' from Credentials Manager (this shows as Persistence Log-on session) and that seems to sort the issue for a while but the entry is automatically recreated in CM, even if I disable the service.

Thanks.  I did try the sign on via MS online account process suggested by some others, and it seems to have worked (fingers crossed).  I really don't like the "Big Brother" aspect of having to use an online log on, so hopefully MS fixes the local account issue soon, or I hope that when I do switch back to my local account it still holds the credentials.

I passed the 10 day window ro revert to 1909, and the MS tech said there was no was now to go back, which I find very hard to believe, but that's what he said.  Another MS issue that should be fixed.

If I understand correctly, your 10 day period has expired so you can't roll back to the previous version of Windows. There may be a solution for you but it requires that you change your user local account to an online account. That seems to have worked for at least one or two folks in this discussion. It seems that credentials are broken/buggy for local accounts in the new version, but when the credentials are stored in your online account that may work.

It probably doesn't do you any good to set your computer clock back to the 10-day window because I think Windows automatically deletes the old Windows files after 10 days. Did MS tech support tell you if there is any way to install a specific version of Windows? Like could you re-install version 1909? They probably keep older versions of Windows available for testing, so if you had a Tech Net account you could get it, but not sure if they make those available to us common users.

I have spent hours trying to fix this, most before I found out that there was a 10 day limit to roll back, and I still have this problem too.  I even spent about 2 hrs chatting and screen sharing with a MS support tech yesterday, and they could not help me fix it either.  This is terrible!  I need a fix for this ASAP; we all do!
