Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)

A third-party tool to block all updates to Windows 10 is mentioned several times in this thread. Links to this tool have been removed because Microsoft policy is that one cannot post here any method of permanently stopping/blocking updates to Windows.

Everytime i enter windows update i cant see nothing in Windows Update tab, only "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later" .

3 days have went by of me trying to fix this, but nothing is working...

The troubleshoot shows nothing wrong...

Tried to reset the pc but i got an error (something went wrong)...

When i try to scan the disk it always gives me an error

Did sfc /scandisk in safe mode there was no problem

    I tried all the suggestions but nothing worked.  Then I tried starting the UsoSvc service several times but kept getting an error 87.  You can look it up in your system event log.

    After more searching, I came across an article in tenforums that suggested restoring an original version of the registry key for this service.  I was skeptical but I tried it.  I went into safe mode and modified the registry key. After a reboot, I went into Windows Update in settings and it all came back!

    I thought it might have been corrupted OS files, but when I did the DISM check they were all good so I was baffled.  In my case, it turned out to be a corrupted UsoSvc registry key.  When I put it back to a pristine state the Windows Update screen worked again.

    I hope this helps someone out there.

    what do i do and ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution wouldn't work ANNd ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak

    Had same problem contacted Microsoft for help, the did try a few things mentioned here. All didn’t work they were going to reinstall windows to fixit, I had created a system. Imagine backup 2 weeks earlier and restored from that. 

    What I have read on other sites something about one of latest updates is causing an the error.
