The problem has now resolved
Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)
* Mod note on 16 October 2021.
A third-party tool to block all updates to Windows 10 is mentioned several times in this thread. Links to this tool have been removed because Microsoft policy is that one cannot post here any method of permanently stopping/blocking updates to Windows.
Everytime i enter windows update i cant see nothing in Windows Update tab, only "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later" .
3 days have went by of me trying to fix this, but nothing is working...
The troubleshoot shows nothing wrong...
Tried to reset the pc but i got an error (something went wrong)...
When i try to scan the disk it always gives me an error
Did sfc /scandisk in safe mode there was no problem

2021-01-18T17:25:32+00:00 Hi Ug,
My name is Jen a fellow Windows 10 user and an Independent Advisor. Let me help you with your concern. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can do:
- Rename Software Distribution folder
- Click the Start button and type cmd
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
- Type the following commands one at a time. Press Enter after each command
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv
- Close the command prompt after running the command and restart the computer
- Repair hard drive error
- Open Command Prompt Admin again
- Type the following command and press Enter
chkdsk/f C:
- Restart the computer after
- Note the error message if you'll get any
- Run System file checker tool
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833...
- Do a Repair Upgrade
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...
- Clean Install Windows
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-do-clean-ins...
If all the above troubleshooting won't work, there's a possibility that it's a hardware issue. Contact the computer manufacturer for hardware troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Jen
I encountered this, starting late December 2020.
Jen's first approach worked for me with the following additions:
- Rename Software Distribution folder
- Run 'Windows Update' <-- my addition
--- Let Windows Update arrive at the message about trying later. <--- my addition
--- Then close Windows Update. <-- my addition
- Click the Start button and type cmd
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
- Type the following commands one at a time. Press Enter after each command
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc <----- my addition
ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start crtypsvc <----- my addition
- Run 'Windows Update' <----- my addition. It sees the updates and starts the downloads
- Close the command prompt after running the command and restart the computer
Many thanks to Jen for the suggestions on how to proceed.

2021-01-19T12:31:03+00:00 I've got the same issue. Resolved it by third party software:
Just google it "StopUpdates10".
After installation there is a button STOP WINDOWS UPDATES - hit it and after that hit again button RESTORE WINDOWS UPDATE.
Then go to Start Menu -> run -> services.msc
Find Windows updates -> right click and RESTART.
FIXED.
