Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)

A third-party tool to block all updates to Windows 10 is mentioned several times in this thread. Links to this tool have been removed because Microsoft policy is that one cannot post here any method of permanently stopping/blocking updates to Windows.

Everytime i enter windows update i cant see nothing in Windows Update tab, only "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later" .

3 days have went by of me trying to fix this, but nothing is working...

The troubleshoot shows nothing wrong...

Tried to reset the pc but i got an error (something went wrong)...

When i try to scan the disk it always gives me an error

Did sfc /scandisk in safe mode there was no problem

    Thanks for all the replies. I figured out you need to bring the OS to s certain build before applying the new feature set.  Lesson learned.

    it's infuriating !! i don't know why MS do this, they can't not know about these issues, or just wait around for complaints and problems to start rolling in !!  i think there was a 2-part update, the 1st part had the waasmedic service, so when i tries to complete the 2nd half it just continuously falls down..... it's a ridiculous pointless service that doesn't achieve anymore than before the update......

    well done MS

    try not releasing feature updates until they're bug-free....oh, no, wait....wasting my breath, will never happen......

    My resolution was about that I found the Greatis Software Stop Windows 10 Updates already installed on my machine at C:\windows\update. I'm not sure how it got there - my guess is via some updates or some software bundling installer. So, I didn't need to install it as it was already there. Then I just started C:\Windows\UPDATE\StopUpdates10.exe as the administrator and enabled the windows updates. Unfortunately, I didn't find the uninstaller. If you don't find it there then it is not the same coincidence I had.

    I have the same problem. The service Cryptographic Services and maybe others block the access.

    I'd use this third party tool to unblock windows updates and it worked

    I would like to use your solution, but apparently the "Not Invented Here" restriction applied to that third party solution.  I feel sad that microsoft censored your solution.

    I have had the same no updates problem for the past month and the microsoft advisors gave me all the usual template answers as seen posted elsewhere in the forums.   They even had me re-download the update and reapply it while keeping previous settings, and that failed to fix the problem.
