Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)

A third-party tool to block all updates to Windows 10 is mentioned several times in this thread. Links to this tool have been removed because Microsoft policy is that one cannot post here any method of permanently stopping/blocking updates to Windows.

Everytime i enter windows update i cant see nothing in Windows Update tab, only "Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later" .

3 days have went by of me trying to fix this, but nothing is working...

The troubleshoot shows nothing wrong...

Tried to reset the pc but i got an error (something went wrong)...

When i try to scan the disk it always gives me an error

Did sfc /scandisk in safe mode there was no problem

    who's still have this issue he can watch this video how to enable windows 10 update and fix this issue  "something went wrong try to open settings later". it's worked for me

    For anyone getting an access denied when renaming the SoftwareDistribution Folder. Go into services and actually disable the Windows Update service. It seems that Windows Update service is manually triggered so stopping it won't work as it can restart by itself. disabling and then stopping it will allow you to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.
