Windows 10 Update (Something went wrong. Try to reopen settings later)

it's infuriating !! i don't know why MS do this, they can't not know about these issues, or just wait around for complaints and problems to start rolling in !!  i think there was a 2-part update, the 1st part had the waasmedic service, so when i tries to complete the 2nd half it just continuously falls down..... it's a ridiculous pointless service that doesn't achieve anymore than before the update......

try not releasing feature updates until they're bug-free....oh, no, wait....wasting my breath, will never happen......

the windows service is called "waasmedic", it's that service that is preventing the update service from starting and is why u keep getting the "somethings gone wrong" error on the update page, this really is the service that's causing all the problems, MS put it in their new feature update, it's meant to keep updates running smoothly, however, it does the opposite

when you go to services it wont disable or enable windows update, it needs to be forced closed which is what the little piece of software does

This is ridiculous, I have tried everything..

Microsoft support informs me I need to re-install Windows... what a shocking response for an issue that they themselves have caused.

I have tried this and doesn't work

it wont fix, there's a service running that MS have put on there themselves, it's the service that won't let you manually restart wupdate service, it doesn't matter what you do, it will not restart, even a system restart/rollback doesn't work, i was stuck with it for a week, in the end i had a look around, i found a site that addresses this, they have supplied a small piece of software that actually stops that service which will then allow you to update.....difficult to give u a link here, they'll take it down, i'll try and find it and post a direction to where you need to go, it was the only thing i found that fixed the problem, nothing MS suggests fixes it

download a small piece of software called "autoruns"     windows update has been disabled and won't update, also it won't let you restart the services either, autoruns will reenable so you can update, it's the link that has been removed previously, the link was there when i had the same problem, was the update about a month ago that did it, that program is safe and it works, hope this helps
