System Repair Disc Not Bootable in Win10

I am running Win 10 Pro 64bit version 1909. I used Control Panel, System and Security, Backup and Restore (Windows 7) to create a system repair disc. That worked fine, no error messages, until I went to use it. I tried to boot my pc from the CD drive where the repair disc was inserted but got an error message, non system disc or words to that effect. I had done this previously with Win7 without any problem. Any thoughts as to why the same process is not working in Win10?

    Hi,

    Yes you should be able to boot from the Windows 10 on the DVD... Providing it was created properly..

    How did you put the ISO on the DVD ?

    I just tried making a Repair CD on my Windows 10 build 19041 (2004) machine, and it booted properly..

    I think your Windows 7 Repair CD should boot normally even though you are running Windows 10..

    All of it's features may not work properly, but it should at least finish booting.

    I will check my machine nd let you know what happens..

    I don't see anything like what is displayed in your image. All I get when I boot is a message in the lower left corner of the screen that states, press ESC key to enter Startup menu. From there I have a few options, one of which is the BIOS order and specs. Sometimes the CD/DVD drive is displayed and sometimes not. I can boot from a Win7 system repair disk. It starts to go through the motions  but of course it ends up going nowhere because I have Win10 on my machine. The only Win10 installation media I have is an ISO file on DVD. If I'm suppose to be able to boot from it, well I can't.

    Hi,

    I would be interested to know if you can even boot with Windows 10 installation media on a DVD to do a clean install in the first place.. If you are having hardware issues with your CD\DVD drive, you will have issues booting with it regardless the name of the media..

    Hi,

    If you look at the bottom of the manufacturer's screen when you boot, in addition to the hotkey that is provided to enter Bios, you should see a couple more... One should specifically say something like "Boot Options", "Boot Menu", or similar...

    You would then end up at a screen similar to this... Your CDROM, or whatever your machine calls it, should be visible regardless of whether their is a disk in the drive or not..

    Out of curiosity... Do you still have a Repair CD for Windows 7 ? If you do, try to boot with it... Or any other known good bootable CD.. maybe your Windows 10 installation media if it is already on a DVD..

    What type of mess are you in that you think may require a reinstallation of Windows ?

    This is really getting down into the weeds. Would a clean install from an ISO file clean this up and resolve the system repair disk mystery?
