System Repair Disc Not Bootable in Win10

I am running Win 10 Pro 64bit version 1909. I used Control Panel, System and Security, Backup and Restore (Windows 7) to create a system repair disc. That worked fine, no error messages, until I went to use it. I tried to boot my pc from the CD drive where the repair disc was inserted but got an error message, non system disc or words to that effect. I had done this previously with Win7 without any problem. Any thoughts as to why the same process is not working in Win10?

    Hi,

    I'm not sure how that worked out for you, but I'm glad it did.. Anything that makes life easier..

    Did you need to restart your computer to finish the image recovery.. I did notice on my error messages something about adding WinPE\Macrium to the boot menu, but I never tried that..

    Regardless.. Be sure you have a Macrium CD just in case the machine crashes and will not boot at all..

    Out of curiosity, I am going to try the other options..

    I at times still use the Backup and Restore Windows 7, but that is usually in addition to either Acronis or Macrium..

    Yes, I did restore the system image to the C drive that Windows resides on. Again, no bootable media from Macrium Reflect was used. I powered up my computer with nothing in the CD/DVD drive, booted from the hard drive as I normally do, fired up the Macrium Reflect app and restored the C drive image from an external disk drive plugged into USB. The results are exactly what I expected them to be. My computer looks and runs fine. So, bye-bye Windows Backup and Restore and hello Macrium Reflect.

    I couldn't agree with you more about the instability and unreliability of Win7 Backup and Restore which was migrated to Win10 and you alluded to back on 07/12/20. I spent the greater part of two days and a night trying the different options that are available for using the repair/recovery/restore processes available. I was met with limited success that I don't trust but mostly error messages and system failures that I couldn't get past except to rebuild my computer from scratch using installation media that I had never used before. My saving grace has been Macrium Reflect. It is quicker and more comprehensive than Windows, which is convoluted and scattered. But most of all, Macrium Reflect provides the assurance that what it does I can hang my hat on.

    Hi,

    I just tried restoring an image from within Windows using both the Macrium Free Edition, and the 30 day Trial of the Technicians Edition.. It would not recover the image, and displayed these message screens...

    I'm not sure exactly what you did...

    Hi,

    I am actually quite surprised to hear that you were able to do that.. Did you restore the image to the drive that was currently running Windows ? I will need to look into that further.. Personally, I would think you may get better results using the bootable Macrium, but maybe not..

    But yes, regardless, the bootable Macrium CD or Flash Drive is good insurance..

    Obviously, you can not run the Macrium App from within Windows if the compute will not boot to the installed drive(s)..
