Windows 10 Home problems with Yahoo account setup

I upgraded a Toshiba Satellite C55-B laptop from Windows 8 to Windows Home 10.0.19041.

I've successfully set up Outlook and Gmail email accounts, but when I try to set up my Yahoo account, I get an error code: 0x8019019a.

My Yahoo account indicates that my mail and calendar were signed into, but the actual setup in either Outlook or the Windows Mail app has failed.

Any thoughts on what I can do to correct this?

Thanks everyone. I was able to solve my problem by generating a Yahoo app password and entering it as my password when setting up the yahoo account in Outlook.

Hello all,

I had the same issue trying to set up my Windows Mail app on my new Surface Pro 6. Here are the steps that worked for me:

In an internet browser, go to your Yahoo account settings (I went to mail.yahoo.com, signed in, clicked on my name in the top right corner, then selected "account info").
Next, select "account security" in the new tab that pops up.
At the bottom of the page, select "manage app passwords".
In the dropdown menu, select "other app" and click "Generate". Yahoo will then give you a 16 character password. Copy it to your clipboard.

5.. In Windows Mail, go to create a new account (settings -> manage accounts -> add account). DO NOT select Yahoo, instead select OTHER. Then input your Yahoo email address and paste in the password you just generated from Yahoo.

After I did this sequence, my mail FINALLY appeared in the Windows Mail app (!!!). I hope this helps, please let me know if it worked for you!

Hi, I'm having the same issue!

I have recently purchased and setup a ASUS ROG Strix G laptop.

I connected my mail on there and all was working well, I could access my mail on my new Laptop, my PC and my mobile.

Today I logged onto my PC and I got the message "Your Yahoo account settings are out of date"

I followed the prompts to fix my account but it didn't work. I was left with this message:

I've uninstalled and reset the mail app and still nothing is working.

I've followed multiple articles and tutorials but nothing is working.

Possible Cause:

The one thing that I changed that from when it was working to now was that I updated Windows 10 on my laptop from version 1909 to 2004.

I needed to do this to install and run Ubuntu on my laptop.

I also want to point out that I originally got the same error on my iPhone but after following the prompts to fix it, it started working again.

I think the issue may be caused from running my Yahoo Mail account on two different versions of Windows 10. (1909 on my PC and 2004 on my Laptop)

Typing "winver" into the start search bar will show you your windows version.

The "product is licensed under the Microsoft Software License Terms to: ******@yahoo.com.au"

I believe that because my Windows is connected to my email it could be the issue.
