Windows 10 Home problems with Yahoo account setup

I upgraded a Toshiba Satellite C55-B laptop from Windows 8 to Windows Home 10.0.19041.

I've successfully set up Outlook and Gmail email accounts, but when I try to set up my Yahoo account, I get an error code: 0x8019019a.

My Yahoo account indicates that my mail and calendar were signed into, but the actual setup in either Outlook or the Windows Mail app has failed.

Any thoughts on what I can do to correct this?

Thanks everyone. I was able to solve my problem by generating a Yahoo app password and entering it as my password when setting up the yahoo account in Outlook.

Tammy,

Check out my response on page 2:

Hello all,

I had the same issue trying to set up my Windows Mail app on my new Surface Pro 6. Here are the steps that worked for me:

  1. In an internet browser, go to your Yahoo account settings (I went to mail.yahoo.com, signed in, clicked on my name in the top right corner, then selected "account info").
  2. Next, select "account security" in the new tab that pops up.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select "manage app passwords".
  4. In the dropdown menu, select "other app" and click "Generate". Yahoo will then give you a 16 character password. Copy it to your clipboard.

5.. In Windows Mail, go to create a new account (settings -> manage accounts -> add account). DO NOT select Yahoo, instead select OTHER. Then input your Yahoo email address and paste in the password you just generated from Yahoo.

After I did this sequence, my mail FINALLY appeared in the Windows Mail app (!!!). I hope this helps, please let me know if it worked for you!

I also have pictures of the process right here on page 4! (see above)

Best,

Nick

I also have been getting this error since changing my Yahoo password.  Something must be up.

I can log into the Yahoo web mail log in no problem, but putting in the exact password into the Windows Mail app produces this error

I click the Fix account notification, then enter the email address and exact password. All looks hopeful, then get the Something went wrong message.  Intriguingly, I get an email sent to my gmail account (my back up Yahoo address) stating that xxx yahoo  account was just used to sign into Mail .  You're all set.

So, it seems that something is broken in the messaging somewhere or maybe a time lag.

Last time this happened, I gave up, then a few hours later, the Yahoo emails started arriving via the Mail app without me doing anything.
