Windows 10 Home problems with Yahoo account setup

I upgraded a Toshiba Satellite C55-B laptop from Windows 8 to Windows Home 10.0.19041.

I've successfully set up Outlook and Gmail email accounts, but when I try to set up my Yahoo account, I get an error code: 0x8019019a.

My Yahoo account indicates that my mail and calendar were signed into, but the actual setup in either Outlook or the Windows Mail app has failed.

Any thoughts on what I can do to correct this?

Thanks everyone. I was able to solve my problem by generating a Yahoo app password and entering it as my password when setting up the yahoo account in Outlook.

Tammy,

Check out my response on page 2:

Hello all,

I had the same issue trying to set up my Windows Mail app on my new Surface Pro 6. Here are the steps that worked for me:

  1. In an internet browser, go to your Yahoo account settings (I went to mail.yahoo.com, signed in, clicked on my name in the top right corner, then selected "account info").
  2. Next, select "account security" in the new tab that pops up.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select "manage app passwords".
  4. In the dropdown menu, select "other app" and click "Generate". Yahoo will then give you a 16 character password. Copy it to your clipboard.

5.. In Windows Mail, go to create a new account (settings -> manage accounts -> add account). DO NOT select Yahoo, instead select OTHER. Then input your Yahoo email address and paste in the password you just generated from Yahoo.

After I did this sequence, my mail FINALLY appeared in the Windows Mail app (!!!). I hope this helps, please let me know if it worked for you!

I also have pictures of the process right here on page 4! (see above)

Best,

Nick

Hi, Ed, thanks for taking time to re-post the assembly of steps that have worked for some.  The problem I'm having is that the "Account Security" page on my Yahoo Account Info is completely blank: there is no "Manage App passwords" button (or anything else, for that matter) on the page....

I've been trying to complete this step for the past week (plus) using various browsers, clearing my cache/cookies, even using different computers, but this page never provides an option to generate a password.  I'm suspicious that the "Currently" product that is apparently servicing ATT email accounts is behind this, but I'm unclear on why others would be able to access their Account Security settings (and resolve the issue) while I cannot.  Any insight you might have is appreciated.

Hey, Nick, thanks for taking time to show the screenshots.  I followed these steps.  The problem (for me) is that my "Account Security" page is completely blank: I don't have a "Manage app passwords" button (or anything else, for that matter) on that page:

I suspect the problem with this screen may have something to do with the new provider: "Currently, by AT&T" (see upper left corner of screen shot).  I googled THAT and found this helpful site:

    https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1240308?authNState=Y&haloSuccess=true

This page included a link to a different Profile page to sign-in, where I had access to create the secure mail key, which I could not access by logging in to my account-settings page as you (and others) had suggested.

This page also includes a link to an email "Troubleshoot and Resolve Tool" (under "Additional secure mail key notes"): that tool walks you through editing an existing email-profile or adding a new one in the Windows 10 Mail app (which DOES support OAuth functionality).  This tool suggests using the "Yahoo" option (vs the "Other mail" option) when adding a new account, so I deleted the existing account and re-added it using the Resolve Tool's instructions: looks like I'm back up and running.

I'm adding this post not necessarily for you but for others who might find the thread later and need similar support.
