My elderly DCP195C has been working fine with my Windows 10S until today, Thu 11 June 2020.  Windows did a large update yesterday or day before.  Now the printer will not work  }:-(   Tried looking at settings but nothing seems to solve the problem.  Anyone any suggestions please?

follow the advice and uninstall kb:4560960 and all will be well. Thanks microsoft for taking an hour out of my life that I will never get back !!!!

What's an hour for Microsoft when we're just grains in their cogwheels ;)

I didn't even have  the KB you mentioned, it was KB4557957

I have Brother MFC-J410W having the same problem as listed on this thread. I just went through the uninstall of KB:4560960 and still no printer function. Strangely, I can still do scanning to file etc from the Control Center3 app, but no printing from ANYWHERE. I have to email a doc to my iPhone 8 and use the Brother printing app from the phone to print!

    Any further suggestions?

After having been through all the fruitless time-wasting attempts to re-establish our printers which we have all experienced, Microsoft sneakily (overnight UK time), issued two updates to earlier issued KB4497165 and KB4560960.  If you have blocked further updates you will need to Google - Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now . These will repair the print queue and spooler errors which we have all experienced, good luck everyone.

    Hi Jonathan,

I was in the same frustrating position as you with this situation! I  too got an error message when i tried to uninstall this update.

in the end i did a system restore to the point just before the update was installed.  It worked!!!!!  My Brother printer worked again.

so i then went into Settings and paused any future updates until july in the hope it may be fixed by then.

does this help you?  Like many, i wasted a whole day trying to sort this without any luck until i did the restore point.

    good luck

    jill

My last update was KB4561608 14.06.2020.  I've uninstalled it and the printer now works again !

    I've been on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4561608/windows-10-update-kb4561608

    and found:

After installing this update, certain printers might fail to print. The print spooler might throw an error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print, and no output will come from the affected printer.

You might also encounter issues with the apps you are attempting to print from. You might receive an error from the app or the app might close unexpectedly.

Note This issue might also affect software-based printers, for example printing to PDF.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update when more information is available.

    I'm not holding my breath!!!
