My elderly DCP195C has been working fine with my Windows 10S until today, Thu 11 June 2020.  Windows did a large update yesterday or day before.  Now the printer will not work  }:-(   Tried looking at settings but nothing seems to solve the problem.  Anyone any suggestions please?

    Hi there,

i have the same issue and have uninstalled this update many times because no matter how often i uninstall it, a few days later it is automatically reinstalled.  I switched off updates until end of July just like you but then Jack sent a link to the Microsoft Update Catalogue where a fix had been listed but had to be installed via this link, then the update would not be reinstalled.  However, for me this did not work, i clicked on the relevant system for me but nothing at all happened, no matter how long i waited.  Here is the link in case it helps you

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4567512

what is even more annoying is Microsoft listing this error as ‘Fixed’ with this update !!!!  Well oh no it isnt!!

I have 2 computers and two Brother DPC-195C printers and both stopped printing recently.

On the computer with Windows 10 ver1909, I uninstalled KB4560960 and the printer now works again.

On the computer with Windows 10 ver 2004, I uninstalled KB4557957 and the printer now works again.

As a precaution, I’ve also turned off the Windows updates until the end of July in the hope that Microsoft will sort out these issues by then.

I hope that is of help to others with this problem.

Thanks Jack,  I have same window system as yours, just different Build No. )S Build 18362.836, clicked on link you provided and selected update and clicked on 'ADD' but nothing happened, tried a few times, waited patiently each time but nothing appeared on the screen.

this is so annoying for everyone.  KB560960 keeps appearing and installing so printer doesn't work AGAIN.

So I guess I just have to keep uninstalling. Hopeless situation.

thanks for listening to me whinge and thanks to you and everyone else who have been so generous in trying to help us with your solutions.

    Jill

Well, Rhaine did a good job explaining but if you the number of posts this subject has had; I think MicroSoft should be shamed of what it causes due to incomplete Q&A

I gave up and restoring my soundcard whihc is also a remnant of this 'great Update'!!!

    Well, printing problems solved.

Now for the rest, maybe the next one will disable the HardDisk ;)

    Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

    1. Press the Windows key
    2. Type cmd in the search box
    3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
    4. A box will open.
    5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
    6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
    7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Please let me know how it goes.Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

    With Warm Regards

    Rhaine C.

Fantastic. I have spent (wasted) hours uninstalling/reinstalling/testing a Brother DCP-197C that suddenly stopped printing, even though I could see documents going through the USB001 print spooler; the documents and any test pages were going through the spooler OK then just disappearing into the ether. Having read this post from Rhaine and the responses, I had a look in my list of Windows 10 Updates and KB:4560960 was in the list, so I uninstalled KB:4560960 using the instructions from Rhaine and my perfectly OK printer is now printing again. Many thanks Rhaine.

    POSTSCRIPT:

Further to the above, everything was working OK last night and I printed an important document OK; this morning I needed to print another important document and my Brother DCP-197C would not print (even though I could see the document going through the print spooler window); I checked Windows 10 Settings/Update History and there had been an overnight update. Guess what? KB:4560960 had been reinstalled by Windows 10 overnight and stopped my perfectly OK printer from printing. So I uninstalled KB:4560960 (again) using the instructions from Rhaine and everything prints OK again. [I have blocked any further Windows Updates for the maximum 35 days allowed on my computer. Hopefully, Microsoft can sort out this huge problem by then....]
