Windows 10 (2004) - Does not sleep with Gamepad

Hello,

after upgrading to Windows 10 (2004) my PC dies not go to sleep any more when I plug-in one of my gamepads / controllers. This happens with any of my 4 controllers (all of the same kind).

For the controllers (a USB cable Speedlink SL-650000-BK, XInput / Xbox 360 compatible) the following driver has been installed during the upgrade:

Xbox 360-Controller for Windows (08.12.2019 - 10.0.19041.1)

I do not know which driver has been installed before. Maybe the same? However, with 1909 everything worked perfectly.

I can even narrow down the problem. When the controller is plugged in, GetLastInputInfo (winuser.h) always returns that input has been given some ms ago. So Windows always gets input, but nobody is doing that physically, of course. Therefore, Windows does not sleep.

    I contacted Thrustmaster and treated me like I was crazy.

    Gave me nonsense answer to use usb2 and install the 2018 drivers.

    When you install the driver windows doesn't use them and if you force the device to use TM's driver it won't work.

    I told them to escalate after 5 emails back and forth with them insisting I was an idiot and nobody else complained about it.

    Best if everyone complains to their customer service before they do something

    I have the exact same problem. I reverted to 1909 and the issue is gone. Updated again to 2004, the issue is back.

    • Thrustmaster TH8A shifter
    • XBox Controller

    Note that my logitech pedals connected via a Leo Bodnar cable don't cause the issue. Accuforce is fine as when off.

    This needs to be fixed.

    I contacted Thrustmaster to address this problem, but maybe you could contact their support of the manufacturers too, put some fire under their ****. They will be quicker to address this if more people file complaints.

    Same here with Windows 10 (2004).  This is just crazy.

    Seems like any game controller plugged in causes this.  Disabling GeForce overlay doesn't fix it.  The only thing that allows the computer to sleep (or screen saver to start) is unplugging the controllers.

    For reference: I have Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals.  If either/all of them are plugged in, my PC will never become "idle" and allow screensaver/ or sleep.

    I've tried everything in this thread and others.  I have updated Windows, updated drivers, updated BIOS, changed BIOS settings, changed Windows power settings (USB, etc), reset power plans, disabled "Allow wake from sleep" on all devices, and more.  The only thing that works is unplugging the controllers, which is ridiculous.

    Thanks for your solution. I had the same story.

    Change default driver to downloaded older driver for Xbox controller finally solved this problem !
