SMB sharing not working after windows 10 update Build 2004 update

Win10 20H2 fixes the issue.

Previously when 2004 broke smb1, I rolled back.

There was no registry change or any other modification made to the system.  After Win10 20H2 upgrade was installed via Windows Updates;  SMB1 worked as it did before the upgrade.

    man same here I use freenas and can't even connect to it I tried everything nothing i get tit to connect and i restart computer and i can't connect to it anymore

    Hello, Yuri, SMB 1.0/CIFS Sharing won't show up where it was shown before.

    Instead, you will see SMB direct which won't work at all.

    Set DNScache service to "Automatic" start did the trick for me :

    Regedit

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache

    1. Change DWORD "Start" to 2 (Automatic)
    2. Restart PC

    Or by services.msc

    It was set to disabled on the deficient computer but automatic on others working windows 2004 computers.

    i have  open Control Panel > Program & Features > Turn Windows features on or off > look for SMB 1.0/CIFS Sharing support and DISABLE (un-tick) it.

    • Reboot
    • Control Panel > Program & Features > Turn Windows features on or off > look for SMB 1.0/CIFS Sharing support and ENABLE (tick) it.
    • Reboot
    • It should now work but  next time laptop  restart  or shutdown then  mapping network drive not open and hang and more process .

    so please help us how to permanent network drive open in windows 10

    This also happened to me after doing exactly what you did.

    Looking for a permanent fix.

    Am looking to wipe my system drive and re-install the previous version of W10 and disable automatic updates until a permanent SMB1 fix is implemented.
