Updating to Windows 10 Version 2004/Conexant Drivers

So what do people with computers with Conexant drivers do? Windows Update says update drivers but there are none acceptable, it also says Microsoft is working on a fix ? So what do we do? If there are compatible drivers for devices using Conexant Audio where are they, how do we get them and install or replace them (I have tried everything to no avail). When does MS expect a fix ? Are persons with Conexant audio drivers computers at end of life ? Does anybody care ?

    Hi again all, I finally tried the "blocking method" after changing my driver to High Definition Audio Device. I have tried so many ways to get the update and nothing seems to work for me, every time I try it gets to almost the end of the update and then fails! It reverts to my original setup after rolling back the update.

    Having tried to update over eight times I'm at a loss now and fear I will have to wait for MS to provide the update.

    The driver is:  Conexant , Dated  8/9/2015,  Version 8.66.16.59

    My device hardware ID is : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_510F&SUBSYS_1043157F&REV_1001

                                               HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_510F&SUBSYS_1043157F

    I have googled for another suitable newer driver but can find nothing for my device ID.

    I found a recent Conexant audio driver package for HWID:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_510F&SUBSYS_1043157F

    version 8.66.95.70 dated 10/16/2020 from MS Update (posted early December 2020) - (download the cab package from this MS link)

    use 7zip or any other file archiving tool to view the contents of the cab file, extract all files inside and use Device Manager to update the Conexant driver to v8.66.95.70 and restart the computer.

    edit - searching on the MS Update Catalog site with ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_510F&SUBSYS_1043157F" would show many Conexant audio driver versions up to version 8.66.95.69 but not the 8.66.95.70 version.

    I'm pleased that several people have updated via the driver workaround. However, it strikes me that, unti Ms fix this properly, it will be an endemic problem that recurs with every subsequent update. Totally unacceptable.

    Hi erpmanila3w,

    Thanks very much for your help getting an updated driver for my Laptop.

    The download link and installation went well and I now have the driver v8.66.95.70, however windows update is still showing a hold on the update for me.

    Ignoring the hold I attempted to do the update using the "Update assistant", I got to over 60% completion of this update when after a second or third restart the update failed and windows, decided to once again rollback my system to the previous setting!

    The new updated driver is still there after the rollback but I'm no further forward and still stuck on Windows 10 Pro version 1909, build 18363.1256

    Hopefully Microsoft will get this sorted soon now and let me get updated!

    I believe that all of this trouble of finding newer drivers and blocking updates is completely unnecessary. I simply disabled the Conexant driver and then manually installed 20H2 directly from an ISO image while the computer was offline. No problems occurred. The original problem causing driver was then reinstalled and again there are no problems.

    So just forget about Windows update!
