Updating to Windows 10 Version 2004/Conexant Drivers

So what do people with computers with Conexant drivers do? Windows Update says update drivers but there are none acceptable, it also says Microsoft is working on a fix ? So what do we do? If there are compatible drivers for devices using Conexant Audio where are they, how do we get them and install or replace them (I have tried everything to no avail). When does MS expect a fix ? Are persons with Conexant audio drivers computers at end of life ? Does anybody care ?

    Hey Everyone,

I wanted to tell all of you that I had the same problem with my Asus GL552VX, but I managed to solve it.

The blocker is mainly the Conexant audio driver, as there is no update yet in most of the laptots... but for Lenovo laptops.

What I did is download the Lenovo driver from here, Instead of installing it using the setup wizard, I selected the option "Extract only".

    This is spanish?

    You can choose english:

    https://support.lenovo.com/bo/en/downloads/ds119072

This is version 8.66.89.00 for chdrt64.sys

which is infected too according to:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#447msgdesc

There is version 8.66.95.69 available on

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#447msgdesc

When updating my Asus UX305F to this one, 2004 will still not beeing installed.

    ;-(

    hiya

i think i had some on the simplest process, by luck.

    1. installed Lenovo's driver, before migration, worked like a charm and different features too ,you might like them
    2. launched the update assistant, installed 2004 without an issue, all perfect
    3. pc rebooted and for some magic reason it had the old driver (original)
    4. everything works perfect

if anyone needs the Lenovo's drivers you need to lookup for this one Conexant Audio Drivers from Lenovo - r09aa24w from https://support.lenovo.com/lu/en/downloads/ds119072

let me know if you need any help with installing it, instructions are in a post a bit earlier by sycrJohnny's post on August 30, 2020

As a closing anecdote, this is the second time I've used these forums to try to solve an annoying MS problem.  The first one, with a bogus message when starting up MS Office, was never officially fixed by MS, or at least they never claimed they did.  After 5 months of multiple Win10 and MS Office software updates, the problem just quietly went away.  It was really annoying that there was no announced solution to it, only stuff like what has been posted in this thread.

What worries me about this Conexant problem is that the above problem was with Win10 running MS Office 2019 or 365, products actively supported by MS.  The Conexant driver, now apparently owned by Synaptics, could have fallen into digital no mans land.  There may never be a supported solution for an old driver.  I can only hope that Synaptics will do the right thing for the next Windows version for the driver they own, otherwise we'll all be talking again :-)

    Good luck to all.
