Updating to Windows 10 Version 2004/Conexant Drivers

It is really a shame that our systems cannot be updated for the May update being September.

As of 31 August (three months after its release) Ver 2004 is installed on only 24% of windows machines. I guess that makes those of us here *'early adopters'*that are a small minority of users :-)

Thanks for the post, but for some reason I can't seem to get the Lenovo driver to install on my ASUS Zenbook UX305. When I go through the manual install via the Device Manager it reports that it has successfully installed it, but upon checking the driver it remains unchanged ?! Anyway, I'll just keep waiting I guess...

FYI, I've been doing the same sort of driver substitution (in this case Bluetooth) for my ancient (2009!), but still very wonderful, Dell Adamo. This machine started out with Vista (!) but had an official upgrade to Win 7. I eventually put Win 10 on it and it has running fine through every version of Win 10 right up to and including Ver. 2004 with just the one problem with the Bluetooth driver that Dell never updated. I have been using an old Lenovo driver with success for many years.

Kind of ironic that my ASUS from 2015 is incapable of running Version 2004 while the Dell Adamo from 2009 is just fine with the Lenovo driver. Seems that Lenovo is much better at keeping drivers current!

Fortunately there are other operating systems out there. The only reason why I keep working with Windows 10 is for one app that only exists for Windows and MacOS. And it does not work with WINE.

A few days ago I installed Debian for all my personal things such as browsing the web, writing, spreadsheets, photo editing, listening to music (and creating music too), etc.

It is really a shame that our systems cannot be updated for the May update being September.

Sure, I think if people is not in a hurry or has no real knowledge of windows internals, might be better waiting...

As you said, this thing was experimental and worked for me, but might not be the case for everyone else.

Personally I like to test and experiment with my PC. I was not on a rush, but just wanted to test how it worked out... and it did.

Official update would be the good thing, but I already faced issues like this before, and also, some cases where when the manufacturers/developers simply consider the device/driver as End of Life and deny to update it.

The fact that MS has the issue as acknowledged and is working on it, is more than I expected when this problem was reported. After all, as

Miguel Ángel Fernández González pointed out, Conexant is no longer a live company, and, as such their drivers are the old left behind... Is like trying to get an updated driver for a Sound Blaster 16 for Windows 10, you might get one, but probably is outdated and risky.

Itried the above method, but Windows Update did no change. Anyway I am in no hurry as my laptop is working ok.

I just cannot believe such companies are so lazy to fix this.
