Updating to Windows 10 Version 2004/Conexant Drivers

So what do people with computers with Conexant drivers do? Windows Update says update drivers but there are none acceptable, it also says Microsoft is working on a fix ? So what do we do? If there are compatible drivers for devices using Conexant Audio where are they, how do we get them and install or replace them (I have tried everything to no avail). When does MS expect a fix ? Are persons with Conexant audio drivers computers at end of life ? Does anybody care ?

    guys

    for who is having problems, can you try this simple process which is what i did:

    while still on 1909

    1. Install lenovo drivers with manual method, links in posts earlier, needs few clicks, but easy, works perfect then you have slightly different driver and even cool in a way with Dolby which you dont have with the stock one.
    2. download windows update assistant, follow the clicks, installs perfectly
    3. then i automatically got the "old" Asus driver, same identical as before and 100% everything works. never had a BSOD (touch wood) since then. i have it already 1 week i think - you could even put back the lenovo i think with the Dolby thingie if you wanted to.

    The Windows update page has been updated. The info section has yesterdays date 20/10/20 against the conexant issues but still has "investigating" so maybe something will happen soon?

    How did you get Microsoft driver after uninstall Conexant drivers?

    Did you just uninstall thoose drivers, reboot and windows proposed "microsoft audio drivers" afterth restart?

    I didn't uninstall the Conexant drivers from the old "Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program" (in my case which is an ASUS Vivobook S510UAR, the Conexant drivers are listed under the programs list that can be uninstalled), nor did I uninstalled it through Device Manager. 

    From "Device Manager > Conexant Drivers > Properties > Driver tab" used the Roll back driveroption.

    Then it asked me "Why do I want to roll back?", with a bunch of possible answers. I choose the very first one, "My device doesn't work with this driver". Then it uninstalled the Conexant drivers and prompted me to Reboot to install the Microsoft drivers. I Rebooted and the Conexant drivers are gone for good.

    But then I had to manually remove all the leftover files that Conexant had inside my Windows install directory, including a Driver Rollback backup of Conexant drivers.

    In my case, Windows installed the Conexant drivers several times after I did replace the driver with the Microsoft one.

    So finally I had to place a Registry Block (it can be done through Group Policy Editor, but I'm running Win 10 Home and only Win 10 Pro have *Group Policy Editor.*But Registry method works just fine) to prevent any future attempt by windows to install back the Conexant drivers. Since then it hadn't succeeded yet.

    I do have an Asus ZenBook UX305FA Notebook.

    After all updates I get driver Conexant 8.66.67.70.

    No update to 2004 with settings/update to 2004.

    I removed the conexant driver (incl. remove) and manually installed the lenovo driver as described here.

    No update to 2004 with settings/update to 2004.

    I maually installed update to 2009 (20H2) !!

    October 2020 update

    One "problem" during installation which was fixed automaticily.

    After all Conexant 8.66.77.57 was found:

    The sound was silent ;-(

    I removed that driver (complete) to get the M$ driver:

    Now everything works fine.

    I am on Windows10 20H2 coming from 1909.
