Updating to Windows 10 Version 2004/Conexant Drivers

So what do people with computers with Conexant drivers do? Windows Update says update drivers but there are none acceptable, it also says Microsoft is working on a fix ? So what do we do? If there are compatible drivers for devices using Conexant Audio where are they, how do we get them and install or replace them (I have tried everything to no avail). When does MS expect a fix ? Are persons with Conexant audio drivers computers at end of life ? Does anybody care ?

    You are right. Anyway I am not sure that audio on my ThinkPad E550 has been working 100% well for all these years. There have been little surprises for every Windows 10 update.

    Eg. audio cut when I loaded Skype or when I swapped between different windows sometimes.

    I suspect that the Conexant driver has been patched several times to get it working on different W10 versions. Now, for some reason, they have to make it from scratch. It could be because of the "Core" changes they are making to separate the Windows 10 Core System from different UIs.

    As Microsoft stated, they are working along with Synaptics to fix this problem.

    The  Conexant/Synaptics drivers have been working with Windows for at least five years through many versions of Windows 10. Now Microsoft makes some tweaks to 2004 and it goes all blue-screeny.  It's hard to believe that suddenly it's crucial that an audio driver must be updated by the manufacturer to accommodate some (probably trivial or maybe even inadvertent) change made to the code of Windows 2004. Why then, I wonder, isn't this simply a case of "Microsoft broke it, Microsoft should fix it?"

    Hi,

    Conexant has been adquired by Synaptics so it is still into business fortunatelly.

    As Microsoft stated, they are working along with Synaptics to fix this problem.

    Lenovo has also sold a lot of laptop with Conexant audio, I own one, my PC is less than 3 years old and still stuck on update 4 months after the problem is known with Windows 2004... and unfortunately Conexant is out of business since late 2017!

    According to Microsoft, please do not update using any other method than Windows update as you would probably get a Blue Screen Of Death and your system would halt.

    We will have to be even more patient.
