Audio Not Working After Windows 10 Version 2004 Update

I wonder if we're all experiencing the same issue:

1. Only occurs after the July or August 2020 updates are applied and Devices are working (both motherboard RealTek and USB audio devices like headsets) are working prior to those updates.
2. Updates install, devices show in Device Manager but do NOT show as input/output devices in Sound Settings.

Are we sure that's what is happening to everyone?  Thanks.

I came here looking for solutions to the same problem. I managed to fix the issue on my laptop doing the following.

1. windows+r  then type devmgmt.msc to open device manager
2. find "Sound, Video and Game controllers" and right click uninstall audio device (for me it was Realtek).
3. downloaded latest audio driver from realtek here Realtek Audio Drivers corresponding to my OS (64 bit windows)
4. restart computer 
5. ran Realteks driver installer, it tried to uninstall driver again and i let it, computer restarted again
6. now when I booted up sound was working and installer tried to finish installation which failed and audio was gone again
7. went back to device manager via "Win+R" "devmgmt.msc and clicked "Scan for hardware changes" under the action menu. 

After this final step my audio device showed up and driver was installed again and sound is working again

Tried this - did not work. I even went to my Manufactures MB Support and Driver Page to download their specific driver package and it still didn't work.

Yes it is working the thing was I downloaded something like a Driver support that deals with audio output device installation. 1st thing I made a payment of £9.99p by visa debit of monthly payments which is cheap.

The thing is I explained to them everything about my device manager not having sound, video and game controllers, plus not having Realtek audio high definition on it also enabling me to uninstall, reinstall then restart my P.C 2-3 times then go to device manager again and again to update it browse the scan completely to make sure it stays there on device manager.

After that try watching videos by clicking and press play, then turn sound up by clicking on the speaker symbol to check if the audio output device is installed completely.

Finally yes it was completed, so that I can adjust the volume high or low.

You do not need to send me anymore emails. The thing is I typed in download free Realtek audio high definition then I clicked on that download thing and finally made a payment of £9.99p monthly subscription with the Driver support team. 

I explained to them what was up with my device manager thing without no sound, video and game controllers on it, also there was no Realtek high audio definition on it also to help uninstall, reinstall then restart on my P.C.

Then go back to Device manager to click on sound, video and game controllers to then browse on it to find Realtek high audio definition to scan and update both of them, then restart my P.C one more time, then click where you see the speakers picture symbol on the bottom left hand corner side to check if the audio device manager has been installed.

If installed you can watch videos on Bing or you tube to test and find out if there is sound in which you can adjust it low or high by clicking on the sound/speaker picture symbol at the bottom left/right hand corner of the video thing.

Yes it worked finally with the help from the Driver support team.
