Audio Not Working After Windows 10 Version 2004 Update

It's deleted ALL my old files and when I tried to do a system restore- that too is gone

I did a reset - that didn't work

I did however find a possible solution - apparently you go to realtek & get the driver for your PC ( my uncles ID CASNEWYDD, he has an ACER) and download it

THEN you delete the drivers in AUDIO  and SOUND and ask it to "let me pick" the new driver

This should be the correct driver

But it's picking the correct drivers CODE 

That's what I'm having trouble finding

APPARENTLY this fixes the problem as it's not JUST the sound it's also the AUDIO in the Device Manager

I've concentrated on SOUND only

We have to do BOTH

SOUND & AUDIO & replace (uninstall) the drivers and download the correct drivers for your own device and your own system

you must also STOP microsoft from updating your drivers  by going to CONTROL PANEL /  ALL CONTROL PANEL ITEMS / SYSTEM   then 

ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS  then

Hardware

Click - Device Installation Settings

then tick NO

This is the ONLY way to STOP this continually happening again 

Get your CODE for your Sound system for YOUR PC / Laptop (as they all vary) from your sound site (like Realtex) and download THAT code

Then go to device manager- uninstall the driver in AUDIO and also in SOUND

Install the driver/s your downloaded

I'm trying to find the correct code for my uncles PC & try this but I've read MULTIPLE replies to a problem - (which has since turned off the comments) that they ALL were fixed this way

so---- fingers crossed :-)

I have found a workaround solution. As to my understanding they screwed something with how audio works, the Windows audio is running with local service's permission, and it doesn't have something it needs.

you have 2 options to make it work.

method 1: (i don't think it's the best option)

Run as administrator a cmd window

type: net localgroup Administrators /add localservice

Restart

this command gives your ntsystem/local service "user" administrator rights, your audio will work, but every service will have administrative rights wich runs with this user.

method 2:

log in with an account who has administrator rights

open services.msc

search for windows audio service

right click->properties

on the log on panel, choose Local System account

ApplyRestart

after theese steps, the audio works fine for me.

I was unable to find any Codes or Codecs on the Realteksite for Windows 10.  Are Codes and Codecs the same?

I have acquired a Dell Optiplex 900 with a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro version1909 Build 18363-1082.  No Sound!  

Device Manager shows two Realtek high definition audio drivers installed.  Windows says the best drivers are installed Yadda Yadda etc.  

Since this version was working fine with outstanding stereo before the 2004 update fiasco,  how do I determine the compatible Realtek driver?  

Any Ideas would be appreciated.  Thank you.

I solved it by uninstalling the device. Removing all realtek driver folder and program .. folders. Then when I 're booted the machine the generic windows audio driver got installed.

I did this same. Works fine. Thank you very much!
