I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Windows Hello, lock screen and sign-in

Hello there! I'm sorry that didn't work. You can try this steps instead:

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Hope this will do the trick

Regards,

Louie

Prayers won't work in my case because every option I choose requires a password every password I choose is incorrect! It's a local account so when I go to Microsoft to change the account password it doesn't register on the laptop which is in safe mode, therefore no internet.

I have tried to get in touch with Microsoft to no avail and it is clear now why they do this it's a RANSOM to get you to pay MONEY to fix the "problem"

I had no problem I was trying to go I went into safe mode with restart and when you came back my PIN number didn't work anymore. I am not paying a dime to Microsoft this is a matter of principle.

I didn't have a Microsoft account, I opted out of using Microsoft products like 365 yet 6 days after I purchased my laptop, it put a pin on my laptop! I removed it, Microsoft put it back and I couldn't remove it and it they created a Microsoft and Outlook accounts for me.

I didn't have any of those passwords and now my laptop is locked it's been locked since the 6th of this month! I have 4 online shops and I haven't been able to access them.

    This is a gyp!

Honestly, I think the only thing that's going to work is reinstalling windows 10 with a bootable USB drive. And if you go into the WinRE mode [click on screen for power options the shift + restart] every option I tried seems like it's going to work but then it requires a password.

EVERY password I type is incorrect. This is so frustrating because every solution suggested by Microsoft or people who are trying to help tells you to go into the LAPTOP and click start... you CAN'T even LOGIN! How can you click start when every password you try is incorrect?

I've been trying to find ways to do it with my Android there is no way I used the authenticator, it complicated things. Microsoft wants you to PAY to help you do it and I'm not going to pay. Feels like an extortion.

Next I'm going to see if I can backup my files in Microsoft cloud and if you ask me for to pay for it download windows 10 into a USB drive and put it in my laptop. I'm not paying for it.

Everyone who reads this and has this issue should go to to their Twitter page and report the issue on their timeline maybe they'll deal with it there. I'm going to do the same I have already they didn't reply.

Microsoft USED to be a great company, I don't know what it is now --it's doesn't respond to consumers anymore they give you a phone number online and that tells you that support is on line only and they tell you can chat, chat does not work.

File a complaint against Microsoft for the shady business practice of getting information from your laptop without your authorization creating email account and Microsoft account for you and locking your laptop & making you pay with the FTC the-- more complaints they get the more they're going to straighten up. It's the only way to stop these tech companies from acting with impunity!
