I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

Hello there! I'm sorry that didn't work. You can try this steps instead:

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Hope this will do the trick

1. Perhaps you could tell us what you mean by Integrated RAMS.
2. It would also help if you could provide some sort of detail of what happens when you reboot, how it doesn't work most times, how it does work once in a while.
3. Probably wouldn't hurt to know brand, model of laptop, how much ram, what type of drives it has, what version of Windows including service packs or other identifying information (if Win 10, under Systems, Info among other places).
At this point we have NOTHING to work with in advising you.

Ohh I didn't provide info because it is impossible to fix unless I changed entire motherboard. Integrated RAMs is just RAMs that are directly in motherboard and the problem I have on that laptop is blackscreen when booting. So yeah it's unfixable, IDK what happens on that lucky boot, but well I'm not gonna start that laptop again.

1. You are still telling us next to nothing.
2. I can guess that you mean the ram is soldered to the mobo, not socketed, but that's just a guess and since the laptop is running seems to not be relevant.
3. Was the screen completely black on bootup, or did it say something, even if you didn't know what it meant? No bios messages, nothing?
Sooner or later that laptop will go down and you will need to try and reboot it. The sooner you tell us what laptop you have, what it's running, what's inside, what's connected to it including anything (don't judge what we need to know), how its powered, etc., the better we can help you. For instance, let's say you have a bad battery, and are not using the original 'brick' power supply, but rather one that's badly underpowered. That could interfere with bootup. A defective USB device. A messed up ethernet cable. Clogged air passages interfering with the fan, maybe causing it to draw too much power.

Also, there are places that repair laptops. And maybe yours is still under warranty. Or maybe it's 20 years old and the HD is worn out and has trouble spinning up. All sorts of possibilities . If, for instance, the HD is worn out, it might be possible to cheaply buy a replacement and using a cheap dual dock tool, with or without another PC, clone that HD to the new one. But we don't know because you're not telling us anything useful.

The laptop model is Asus x551C. I tried changing HD, removing battery, changing BIOS battery. It doesn't boot at all (No letters, the screen doesn't even change color of the screen, only HD starts spinning and after couple seconds fan joins in). I tried running it without HD, battery and other unnecessary components but it didn't have any effect at all.

If I could reach BIOS it wouldn't be a problem as Linux has possibility to boot from USB, thus it's obviously either BIOS itself or RAM problem... And as I can't remove RAM, and the laptop runs 1 out of couple thousand tries I believe that problem is with it. That's why the solution to this PIN problem is like slap to my face from Microsoft... "Do this twice".... I can't do it once!!!

I'm really thankful that you're trying to help me, but I don't think there is other ways to fix it unless I changed the motherboard itself. If you do know some other way, I'd appreciate it. Was going to use that laptop to learn SQL and create a database. That PIN problem also had an auto shutdown function so that laptop is currently off.

Btw. Maybe this will tell something: When that PIN problem occurred, I restarted from Windows log in UI and it booted properly (Tho Pin problem didn't disappear)
