I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

Hello there! I'm sorry that didn't work. You can try this steps instead:

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Hope this will do the trick

    Hi. Thanks for your kind help, but I am still stuck. Having no system restore point, i tried to reset the PC, but had no choice but the local version. After hours of resetting my PC went into “undoing changes” ... So back to square one. What do you suggest? I was even unable just now to go into recovery environment as you suggested by turning off the PC twice. Thanks

    i'm not sure our situations are similar.   If your windows 10 is degraded so much you can't go into the recovery environment, that's very difficult.   I had a breakthrough this morning that I'm going to share with you that I posted on another thread.   If you don't have a recovery thumb drive that I mention you may be able to make one on another healthy machine that has a windows 10 install like yours (Home, Pro, Enterprise).  Here's what worked for me to get out of the Pin loop:

    Ok, a miracle has happened.   I got control of the machine again.   This is what I did.   I have a relatively healthy (the only problem was the pin loop) win 10 pro machine and I had made a recovery thumb drive earlier. So I:

    • Did Shift Restart and picked the Use a Device option
    • I had a Windows recovery thumb drive made from this machine earlier in a usb port
    • I picked USB Drive UEFI
    • I picked "Advanced" Restore
    • then it was asking which partition I wanted to install windows on.  At this point I killed the partition window with the x and rebooted the machine.
    • the next login prompt was a user prompt.   I logged back in and turned all Services back on and tried to turn Pin prompt off.   After that I had control of the machine again through reboot/power cycles.

    Gor all the eay through reatore point and it still didnt work. Gave me stop error code 0xC000021A

    any help is appreciated.
