I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

Hello there! I'm sorry that didn't work. You can try this steps instead:

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Hope this will do the trick

    Hi 

    Thanks for your tips but none of them worked for me.

    I even restored my system but again i had to enter the pin and the same problem poped up.

    Actually I didn’t reset my pc because I don’t want my files, movies, pictures to get deleted.

    If you have any other solutions it’ll be awsome.

    Hello. I am having problems with my PC. and I cannot reset my PC or access the "advanced" option in troubleshoot.

    I keep getting the repeated message attempting to log in "Something happened and your PIN isn't available.

    Click to set up your PIN again." Upon clicking "Set up my PIN", I get this question box asking "Search for app in the store?" "You need to install an app for this task.

    Would you like to search for one in the store?"

    When I click yes, it does nothing and the same error message occurs when attempting  to log in again.

    When I try to go to Recovery Environment, and when I try to do Windows Restore, I get this error message saying "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive." What do I do from here? 

    I hope you get back to me soon.

    It didn't work for me. This is my 3rd day now and I'm not stopping to find out why. It all started when I run 'msconfig', went to safe mode, rebooted then boom, it locked. Tried each  of those features on "shift + restart" key neither of it gave solution. So, I went to BIOS side only to find out that I cannot access the damn thing either.  Windows 10 rebooting so quick, that you don't see BIOS icon, or that Windows spinning dots! After that, I downloaded Windows boot up recovery tool, load up, but seems not detected by the BIOS. Next thing I did was flash the BIOS with downloaded update. Done that three times, removed my cpu etc, then flash it. Surprisingly, the Windows, went back on that confusing welcome, saying "something happened". I've been using Windows, from 32, 95, and so on. I'm no expert, obviously not an IT person. Just a common PC user. But this one problem is "something". LoL

    If someone's having similar troubles above, here's what I did now, after three days of searching. I plugged in the old VGA cable instead of HDMI. Yup, it was only about the fast HDMI cable that is preventing you to see what's on the bootable USB to resolve issues!
