Crackling audio after update to 2004

After updating Win10 to 2004, I get crackling audio when I use Razer Surround Pro software. When I switch my audio output, I get normal audio. This only happens when I use Surround Pro.

Edit: Still talking with razer support but I ultimately believe this is an issue with the 2004 update. I hope there's a fix for this soon, although I don't mind still using 1909.

Edit: this is the reply from Razer I got today:

Good day!

We receive an update from our appropriate department that our Audio team is checking on the path forward. Should there be a fix, it will come in the form of a software update. Please check the synapse update from time to time.

Thanks.

Edit: I don't understand why, but having bluestacks running in the background fixes the issue.

People have paid for Razer Surround Sound, so they can't just leave it as it is if it stops working because of a system update, even though it should still be running because Windows 10 is supported. Headsets and software were sold separately.

Nobody would buy their newer products because they would have to fear the same.

And support answers always depend on the question and how it is asked.

By the way, and i asked for a key for the newer software. As a user of the old surround sound app, you don't get a key for the new software. Also a reason why they had to fix the "legacy" app.

    Quote:

"Please note that the upgraded version 7.1 Surround Sound is only supporting the Kraken X and Kraken 2019. Your headset is only supported with the Surround Pro. If you had an old code with your Surround Pro please keep on using that."

It's from the official Windows 10 v2004 release notes by Microsoft:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#known-issues

But it's not really relevant -- it's two entirely separate issues that concerns other audio drivers.

    > Errors or issues during or after updating devices with Conexant ISST audio drivers

    > Devices with affected Conexant ISST audio drivers might receive an error or have issues with Windows 10, version 2004.

Synaptics and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues with certain versions of drivers for Conexant ISST audio driver and Windows 10, version 2004 (the Windows 10 May 2020 Update). Windows 10 devices with affected Conexant ISST audio driver might receive an error or experience issues while installing the update or after the device has updated. The affected driver will be named Conexant ISST Audio or Conexant HDAudio Driver under Sound, video and game controllers in Device Manager and have file name uci64a96.dll through uci64a231.dll and a file version lower than 7.231.3.0.

    > Errors or issues during or after updating devices with certain Conexant audio drivers

    > Devices with affected Conexant or Synaptics audio drivers might receive a stop error with a blue screen.

Synaptics and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues with certain versions of drivers for Conexant or Synaptics audio devices and Windows 10, version 2004 (the Windows 10 May 2020 Update). Windows 10 devices with affected Conexant or Synaptics audio drivers might receive a stop error with a blue screen during or after updating to Windows 10, version 2004. The affected driver will be named Conexant HDAudio Driver under Sound, video and game controllers in Device Manager and have versions 8.65.47.53, 8.65.56.51, or 8.66.0.0 through 8.66.89.00 for chdrt64.sys or chdrt32.sys.

I'm still getting it to work by opening the Windows Sound Settings and leaving it open.  I've tried Razer Spatial Audio and didn't like it at all.  I've also tried Spatial Sound Card and didn't really care for that either.  Razer Surround Pro is really the only one where I haven't had to mess with any settings to get it to sound good without having to tweak anything.
