Windows 10 Feature Update 2004 taking too long to install

Today I was notified by Windows Update that the 2004 update is finally ready to be downloaded and installed on my laptop. I pressed download and install and left the laptop plugged in idle as I did not have any laptop work to do at that time. Now it's been 4 hours since I left it on, and the Windows Update screen (in the Settings > Updates & Security) is still at 94% installing, which is the exact number I saw more than an hour ago. Is it stuck? Why is it taking so long to install? My internet is fast enough, I don't have many programs installed apart from a few essentials such as Office and Inkscape along with other credible software. I am afraid that if I close it and reset the Windows Update, it'll take 4+ hours again (not to mention the additional lengthy rebooting and installing the update again in the blue background screen which happens with every single update), plus it's already night here so I cannot leave it turned on while I go to sleep.

- used wushowhide to hide the 2004 update,
- moved extra files to my backup drive,
- emptied my trash,
- ran Malwarebytes to remove infections,
- ran CCleaner to get rid of even more unnecessary data,
- ran Defraggler to optimize my drive,
- used wushowhide to allow the 2004 update
- allowed queued updates for previous version of W10 to install and restarted,
- allowed 2004 to download and then let the install process start, and went to bed.
When I got up this morning, 8 hours later, it was done. It did show me a few settings for privacy, location, ads and data tracking...I think that was for Edge, although it did also include finding my device if it's stolen.

Unfortunately, I cannot apply that same level of effort for my work computer...if this fails, it'll only further irritate me (having wasted all that additional time/effort for nothing) and if it crashes/destroys my system, well, then I'll be re-building my work computer or looking to change careers. LOL

It really wasn't much effort. In fact, most of it didn't take much time...Except defragging.
