Windows 10 Feature Update 2004 taking too long to install

Hi guys. I only begun installing this update at 19:30 last night. My latest report so far is that it's stuck on 84% install in Windows Update after hitting 7am in the morning. That makes the install time of this update come up to nearly 12 hours so far. I don't know why it is taking such a long time for it to be installed on my system.

I have a huge amount of hard drive space available for it, around 840 GB, to be installed on my 6 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop. The waiting time for this update to be downloaded & updated on my laptop is very excessive. There must be some very large installation files in it that were given the go-ahead from MS behind our backs beforehand while it was given to all of us who wanted to try it out for the 1st time. It's simply ridiculous for it to continue in this way. Tell us Microsoft; what have you done to yourselves?

Today I was notified by Windows Update that the 2004 update is finally ready to be downloaded and installed on my laptop. I pressed download and install and left the laptop plugged in idle as I did not have any laptop work to do at that time. Now it's been 4 hours since I left it on, and the Windows Update screen (in the Settings > Updates & Security) is still at 94% installing, which is the exact number I saw more than an hour ago. Is it stuck? Why is it taking so long to install? My internet is fast enough, I don't have many programs installed apart from a few essentials such as Office and Inkscape along with other credible software. I am afraid that if I close it and reset the Windows Update, it'll take 4+ hours again (not to mention the additional lengthy rebooting and installing the update again in the blue background screen which happens with every single update), plus it's already night here so I cannot leave it turned on while I go to sleep.

Hello, I must make it clear that I am not very techy, but.

I too received advice that Windows update (2004, was ready to install, I set the download and installation in motion. I too panicked as my screen went blank for long periods, but in the end, it all installed ok, having taken six hours.

Yesterday I tried to install it 3rd time and it failed again and rolled back. The only difference among this and first two attempts is that, in first two attempts, I was asked to install the updates. Whereas in third attempt I was not asked so I used Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant.

In all attempts, after my laptop was restarted for updates finalizing, it did not cross 20% for four hours and then rolled back, saying undoing changes.

What will be the solution for this?

UPDATE:  Yay, I went ahead and hit the Subscribe button on the original post. A drop down came up with the choice of Unsubscribing. I click Unsubscribe. What a weird way to do things. But anyway, keeping fingers crossed this does the trick.

Do you know why I am getting emails about this post? Yes, I had posted a question and got some very helpful replies. Unfortunately I was not able to load the update and it went away on its own. I am not interested in wasting anymore time on this update as the place I purchased my laptop from about 2 years ago told me it was an optional update. It had popped on my list of updates for 4 tries over maybe 2 weeks whenever I used laptop and thought of trying again. Anyway, I looked for the 3 dots by the question Microsoft says should be the area to unsubscribe. I am not seeing the 3 dots but I do see a subscribe button by the post and I am not subscribed. I am thinking maybe my question automatically signs me up for emails moving forward? I am really over Microsoft and this update and at age 62 have a real life outside of online to live/lol. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Annoying getting emails from a post I am not subscribed to.

I had checked this on my question so I would be notified via email when and if someone responded to my question. How do I get this undone as I am now getting new questions from other posters. I cannot help and it would be nice to have this stopped.
