Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

    My problem was that the print job would briefly appear in the print queue then disappear without printing.  A couple of weeks ago I deleted the above noted KB's, which resolved the problem then, but it came back after a subsequent update.  Microsoft has released another hotfix to address this issue: kb4567523.   This worked for a Brother MFC-440CN.

    "Addresses an issue that might prevent certain printers from printing. The print spooler might generate an error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print, and no output will come from the affected printer. You might also encounter issues with the apps you are attempting to print from, such as receiving an error, or the app might close unexpectedly."

    Update:

    More than one hotfix addresses this issue.  Choose according to your Windows version:

    kb4567512 applies to Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909

    kb4567523 applies to Windows 10 version 2004

    I have the same problem.  I have a Brother MCF-J220 which was working perfectly a week or two ago when I last printed.  Please Microsoft give us another update that will fix the problem.  I can't even find my printer now.

    I had the same issue.  Uninstalling that update worked.
