Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

    I followed your very clear instructions, and decided to remove the updates one at a time to try to identify the problematic one.  I started with the one I suspected most (KB4560960), removed it without any problem, restarted the computer, and - the printer now works normally!

    I am very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge and helping me solve this issue.

    For anyone else reading this, the takeaway is:  KB4560960 (installed 6/11/2020) caused my printer to malfunction, making it unable to print.

    Thank you Raine C! The first time around, I did not put in the space after "wusa" or after "uninstall", and I was unsuccessful.  The second try, I paid more attention to the exact format.   Like MC Young's reply below I only uninstalled one KB Update at a time.  After completion of the first uninstall for KB:4560960 and restart, it worked!  Amazing.

    Thank you SO MUCH to Rhaine C. and the other users comments.  After literally hours of trying to trouble-shoot the issue with my printer that had suddenly stopped printing, I came across this thread.  My issue was resolved after uninstalling KB4560960.

    Hi,

    My god mother has the same issue with her PC. It has the KB4560960 being installed the day before the issue, however the system says it's essential and refuses to uninstall it. She didn't have system restore enabled so I can't use that to wind back.

    Is there a hotfix for this or a way for forcibly remove the updates?
