Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

I think I've tried KB4367523 (I'm running 2004) and it tells me that it is not available for my system.  I think that is because it has an update dated before Microsoft put Edge on my machine.  Not on this site but somewhere else I read that Microsoft is working on this issue.

I'm not an expert either.  I used to do things for myself; then I joined with www.falcon-nw.com and boy what an awesome machine!!! Go Falcon!  And all I had to do was whine and someone was there to fix it for me.  However they moved away and I didn't want to follow.   As time goes by I am back to elcheapo.

This evening I'll try again the KB4367523.

    Thank you

I tried this evening - however this is what I did:  (And I don't even know now who to thank.)

    64-Bit systems: http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/...

Perhaps this is the same update that you recommended.  I suppose that I could check my update list and then I'd know but I am too excited to do that now.  LOL All I know is that from here it did update!  One problem tho, is that it only prints greyscale.  The printer is set up correctly, the color tests print perfectly, I can copy something in color....it just won't print in color.  Right now I can live with that and will try to figure that out another day.

    Thank you very much

Thank You Rhaine C.   This fixed my issue.   I have spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong.    I have paused my window updates for 30 days and assume I will have to remove the updates once it updates again.    Hopefully the issue will be fixed soon.

    Regards,

    Jane H.

thank you all for your responses, I appreciate you. I will keep trying and maybe something will work or they will find a fix. Yes apple is sounding better all the time. Until then, I have managed to send needed material to my phone and print from it, yes an iPhone. Thank you again and keep me updated if you come across something. You are good people to take the time to try and help....
