Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

    Rhaine,

My computer says I do not have these updates.  The last two were: KB4561600 and KB4552925.  I uninstalled KB4561600 but it still does not print.

    David:

The search box will be in the lower left portion of your home screen.  Here's a step by step to open the command prompt as administrator:

    • Press Windows key
    • Move cursor to search box in lower left and type cmd - "Command Prompt" should appear, along with some options for opening it
    • Look for the option that says "Run As Administrator" - left-click on that option to open the command prompt
    • You now should see a black window (similar to the old DOS window if you're as old as me) - now you should be able to continue with the instructions to delete the update

(My series for opening the command prompt is a bit different than Rhaine's, but a bit simpler I think)

Hope this helps - feel free to shout back if you have any problem.
