Win 10 Build 2004 issue with Realtek audio

I upgraded my PC to build 2004. I found my realtek audio is not working at all. HDMI audio was working. But my speakers were not working. I reverted to my old build 1909 and audio started working. Is there any bug in build 2004? When will that get resolved?

Me too. Updated to 2004, immediate and unfixable issues with Realtek drivers. I spent probably 20 hours trying to fix this with various drivers, downloads, hardware/software, you name it - NOTHING worked. Rolled back to 1909 - instantly fixed it.

This is exactly the same issue I reported at starting and still the issue persists. I'm not being able to upgrade to build 2004, as realtek audio is not working. I'm still with 1909.

Many people suggested many solution none of them working.

    My MB is GA-LMT78-USB3

So you are saying that you have Win 10 2004 and you installed the realtek hd Audio driver 6.0.8967.1 and you have no issues, which MOBO do you have?

I have the same issue and there is no current resolution.

There is a temporary fix I found and I believe its an issue that needs to be rectified between RealTek and Microsoft.

    What happened?

Like everyone else, I installed Windows 10 v2004 and things worked well...for a while.

It's as if there was a particular timeframe after installing Windows 10 v2004 that the issue occurs. My audio and microphone stopped working. 🙉🙊

I have a Asus Zephyrus GX502GW and it has RealTek Audio.

Analysis and Temporary Fix (until Microsoft and RealTek get their act together):

    1. I did not want to (and could not) rollback and I flushed my options with DiskCleanup. If things work well you clean up things, right? :)
    2. I thought Microsoft can't be that stupid to not get audio and microphone compatibility. Tried all the standard checks and services.msc things and troubleshooter which were fruitless.
    3. Driver issue? Went through Asus support page and installed the latest driver. - Did not work either.

    Did I miss something?

    Temporary Risky Fix:

    1. Device Manager --> Sound, Video and Game Controller --> Realtek(R) Audio --> Update Driver
    2. Click "Browse my Computer for Drivers" and select "Let me pick ...."
    3. Like a monkey that we have to be (because vendors do not test drivers and have an open source backwards compatible driver framework) install the default "High Definition.."
    4. You will get a warning saying that the option is not compatible and might not work properly but if like me you want to attend interviews through video call (with Audio and Mic working) then go for it

Just to prove a point try selecting the other drivers and see if the speaker works. -- It does not work for me except the "High definition..." option.

    Problem with the fix:

    1. Your headphone jack port and mic jack port will not work. :) (General Speaker and Microphone worked for me)
    2. Another update and another problem might arise.

It would be best to check the next windows update and revert back to the latest RealTek driver (in my case 6.0.8931.1) and hopefully, things go back to normal.
