how to fix Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 failed - 0xc19001e1

I have tons of space. My C drive is a 240GB SSD only half used.

EduardSPA answer is the one I used to get this update installed.

Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 failed to install all the way.  I have tried twice to get this update and both times it did not complete all the way / only 86% then failed.  When I check for updates again I get:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004

the next version of Windows is available with new features and security improvements.  When you're ready for update, select "Download and install"

I lost a hard drive with the 1904 update!  The computer NEVER started again.

After trying everything I could find on the Net, I transferred everything to a different drive.  It, of course, started with the same BLUE screen.  A total waste of time.

I finally did a Windows repair/reinstall using the new drive,, and got it working.  I still spent hours after trying to get everything working as it did before.

I attempted to stop 2004 by pausing updates for 7 days, every 7 days; BUT, I woke up one morning and it was updating anyway!?!?

2004 failed, after many hours of churning.  A week later it tried again, and of course FAILED again.  At least now it's not an option for me!

There was only one version of Windows 10 that I actually liked (I believe it was the 2nd update. The one that was active December, 2017), but everything that I liked about it was gone with the next update.

I have no use for, and attempt to stop, ALL of the newer Microsoft Apps.  Cortana, skype, etc. are a waste of resources.  I just want an operating system that will run MY software.  I don't have a camera, or a touch screen.  I have an off-board sound card with mic inputs for recording, and use it as a home recording studio.  I wish all the other stuff would just go away!

I really want the option of picking what I want.  I know that will never happen, as Microsoft wants a one fits ALL Windows.

I don't see that ever making everyone happy.

I'll keep plugging along, because it is still a nice I7 with a lot of RAM, but I'm totally frustrated with Microsoft.

I got the solution from one of the Windows advisors on this forum, Andre Da Costa. I'm not able to search the original post to which he replied, so I'll paste his solution -

Open Start, type: CMD

Right click CMD

Click Run as administrator(if you don't run as administrator, the below commands may not work)

Then, type the below commands -

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

Close Command Prompt, restart system and see if Windows Updates works.

The above solution helped me. I could finally install feature update to windows 10, version 2004 without any long pauses but it may take over 2 hours to complete the full installation.
