Windows live mail error 0X800C013E after feature 2004

After installing latest W10 update feature 2004  WLM fails on trying to read emails with error 0x800C013E .

Winver is 2004 (OS Build 19041.264) WLM version 2012 Build 16.4.3528.0331)

Any assistance would be most welcome.

    Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

    Windows Live Mail has been out of support for about 3 years now, unfortunately feature update can break features of this application due to this.

    I would suggest using the built in Windows 10 mail app to add your email accounts to.

    Hi Elise

    While this error is on my partners PC I am trying to resolve.

    I will consider your point about WLM sometimes you just have to change.

    In the mean time to get email working I propose to uninstall the update ( I don't know how it got updated by itself). Then I need to prevent it updating for a while in the future. Is there an easy method other than turning the WiFi feature to "charged".

    I will then persuade her to go with Windows mail or Gmail whichever she wishes.

    Hi,

    You can defer a feature update but you cannot do this if you have the Home edition.

    These are the steps:

    Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update .

    Under Update settings, select Advanced options.

    From the boxes under Choose when updates are installed, select the number of days you would like to defer a feature update or a quality update.

    Note: If your PC is managed by an organization, you may not be able to defer updates.

    Fix for Windows Live Mail WLM 2012 after updating to version 2004 is here:

    I had installed, reverted to old windows

    reinstalled and did this, WLM works fine under Version 2004

    Hi

    Thanks for the information.

    I will give the registry change a try when I can get to my partners PC. I did roll back to the older W10 version 1909 which did not resolve the issue. From this I assumed it wasn't the 2004 update that caused the problem. I have suspended any further updates in the hope that any issues with 2004 may be resolved over time. I also discovered I can no longer delete and reinstall Windows Essentials (WLM) as it is no longer downloadable from Microsoft. Must make sure I back up the Registry before I begin!!
