Windows live mail error 0X800C013E after feature 2004

After installing latest W10 update feature 2004  WLM fails on trying to read emails with error 0x800C013E .

Winver is 2004 (OS Build 19041.264) WLM version 2012 Build 16.4.3528.0331)

Any assistance would be most welcome.

    Thanks, it really worked! Before I have had to reinstall Windows 10 to get rid of this error.

    This fix works well and saved me from having to rebuild a lot of email in a different program.  Thanks.  The German threw me a bit, but I was able to add the 3 DWORDS to the registry and assign them the number 1.  After rebooting Windows Live Mail now displays new email messages.

    Windows Live Mail has been out of support for about 3 years now, unfortunately feature update can break features of this application due to this.

    I would suggest using the built in Windows 10 mail app to add your email accounts to.

    Thank you Elise for suggesting the Windows 10 mail app. I asked a Microsoft Rep a few years ago if the mail app was cloud based or the emails were stored my local hard drive. The answer was that the emails were stored on the cloud. I answewred that with my 32000 emails sorted in hundreds of folders, that I preferred the way WLM kept all my emails on my hard drive where I could do my own local backups. Having used MS email application since 20 years where the data was kept on my local hard drive, it is a shame that MS has abandoned this approach in favour of a cloud based approach. Call me old fashion.

    I found the below and it fixed my wlm issue:

    Close Windows Live Mail.

    In the registry under

    Computer-HKEY_CURRENT_USER-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Windows-Live Mail

    create these 3 DWORD entries (i did not have them) or change them to 1 if available

    RecreateFolderIndex=1

    RecreateStreamIndex=1

    RecreateUIDLIndex=1

    Restart Windows Live Mail. After that, the message display at me goes back to normal and the 3 values in the registry are reset to 0. Can be left like this.

    For me, the account display in WLM with multiple accounts was also corrupt after the Windows Update 2004. This is also fixed.

    I would recommend exporting a copy of your registry ahead of an editing, and only edit if you are comfortable doing that.
