Why can't you create updates that don't mess up programs that Microsoft would rather have you using their equivalent. Most programs update and retain all their existing settings but not Windows. I rarely use EDGE because it is missing the most basic function to send a link to someone, you can only do this with Microsoft Mail but I never use Mail - I do use Microsoft Outlook and cannot understand why EDGE does not let you send a link to someone using Microsoft Outlook despite many updates. So you have to go back to copying URLs and pasting them into an Outlook message. But at least all my PCs now seem to have the update installed now.

Windows updates and retains all existing settings if you install it properly. Which is just to run the update and NOT try to install A CLEAN update which will erase your settings. Edge can send a link just fine through Microsoft Mail (your address is the same as your Outlook email and you can see mail FROM Mail in both Microsoft Mail AND Outlook so there's really no problem there. Just select the webpage you are viewing and click the share button and

I install updates from Settings, Updates and just let it download and install. MAIL might send from my normal EMail address but it does not have access to my address book, signatures etc and does not archive with the rest of my mail, on Outlook.

Most programs update and retain all their existing settings but not Windows.

I install updates from Settings, Updates and just let it download and install.
