Thanks for all the info but these last few Win 10 updates have been very frustrating for a lot of people, including me. I realize Microsoft is "helping" by producing security and other updates and I have been receiving them automatically for several years with no problems, but stating around June 9 or June 10, 2020, all updates crash my printer. I use a Brother MFC-J270w. I couldn't print from Word or from Adobe Acrobat or print checks using Quicken. I assume that means a port was disabled by the updates but my only solution has been to uninstall the three most recent updates. So, good for me as I can print but bad for me because I don't have the security updates. If anyone from Microsoft reads this, pls fix this problem. It takes quite a bit of time to uninstall & reboot, so I'm not eager to go through all that again unless someone tells me that the updates have been fixed. It is a little bit hard to communicate with the "update team" so someone pls make sure that they are causing lots of problems.

2020-06-18T04:39:46+00:00 Hello, I am trying to inform Windows support of an issue I have dealt with for the past 2-3 days ... long story short my printer stop printing pdf files ... so I thought ... I used Google and then it would print the file and this may be separate from the next problem but I am not sure at this point ... my printer works fine as a printer but would not work from my computer and I have a Brother MFC-685CW, had it for years and never a problem ... until now ... I have worked for hours trying to get it to print and have installed 2 different email programs thinking that was the problem because most of the printing I needed was in emails, and transferring everything only to find nothing would work ...I did everything I could think of and went to supports everywhere and did whatever they said ... I can not count how many times I put drivers in and finally I put a new printer in and the same thing ... yes, I restored back to a different date ... I tried many things and I am worn out but I figured it out !!! It is a download "KB4557957" ... I just came home to find my printer stop working again and I looked and sure enough, Windows put that download back in while I was gone ... I am now trying to let someone know this so maybe they will not go through what I did ... and there is no telling what I have to straighten out now because of all the things I might have done trying to fix the printer ... not to mention all the new ink and printer I now have ... and the old printer works fine since I found the problem ... sorry about the short details but if you are having problems with your printer look for this download ...

2020-06-18T09:09:42+00:00 There is a fix for this. Download KB4567512 from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
"Addresses an issue that might prevent certain printers from printing. The print spooler might generate an error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print, and no output will come from the affected printer. You might also encounter issues with the apps you are attempting to print from, such as receiving an error, or the app might close unexpectedly. This issue might also affect software-based printers, such as when printing to PDF."
