Before the windows version 2004 update rolled out sometimes in june 26, everything were functionally smooth and all set in my preference. the power saving option were set and pretty much fiddled around from time to time. I leave it on and it goes to sleep
without intruption for a few hrs.
It operated just as it was supposed to except there were a minor issue such as it wakes up by a program invoking it. By the time I decided to do a bit of computer maintence and started with windows update. There, I noticed a big upgrade and decided to
go with it as if it wasn't beta, I'd take the chances.
After the update were installed, some days later I noticed some problems. Particituarly power saving. I tried to get it to work and nothing happens as it like power saving block of code has been disabled. I found that manually sleep works. sometimes it
wakes up and tried to find out why with no avail using pwrcfg command in CMD.
Nothing works forcing me to make tech help contact. after few attemts to establish the case issue tocommence over on line chat. First half, Alexander R worked with me up until the download for roll back version from 2004. It took about three hours and
after it completed, I was with another agent name kenneith, can't remember, worked resolving second half way through.
During the roll back i did expect to have power option to work; leaving the desktop files and EVERTHING else intact including programs as in anti virus, games, browers and such has been moved to another directory. Two directoies windows.old and windows.old.000
in fact, that both are 24gb and 38gb respecitivly. One of it contain everything which has been moved, leaving out default desktop as if it was a new operating system installed.
I went through my system and found that the third party AntiVirus does not seem to open properly and not even running in memory. Chrome browser could not be able to update which gave me an error. and so on a few things to list i don't feel like to put
out.
-Click start button, nothing there for me to click a program to open. so I have to go open file explorer to find its path of directory location to open a file from there. Almost all programs and files I have to navigate my way to open it.
- Shortcut to everything is gone, includng 3rd party AV. also my email program I ususally use, of course, under Microsoft, Outlook and it is sitting somehwere on another directory instead of current desktop. I dont know how you would underrstand this,
but the procedure sure did put in some damage here.
-my scenario is to have things back the way it was is to first list out all the programs that was installed in that directory, and delete both directrory which I mentioned. Then reinstall everything from there off the list supposely from old directory.
How do I have it back the way it was? Do I have to install the programs all over again?? What do I do with two LARGE folders? I think I might have to REINSTALL this all over again!!
This letter is how much pissed off I was that I literally swore off at one of them because of no forewarn of what the procedure would be like. Did not tell me this will be a customized meaning will take out your old desktop with nothing on it. That should
not be like that, if the update were faulty... need to look at that part and take that thing out and fix it.
This mistake, on my end is downloading that windows update 2004 which I should have been aware by what it going to be. Your mistake are the bug that messed up one small thing that cant fix the others; power & sleep stopped working - fix this part by removing
or roll back the update to older version and took down all that portion of desktop and programs that worked together for a long time. I cannot put much empahsis on how bad and terrible it was.
I wanted to put this out here so everyone see this.
