Not sure if this will help, but check the version of your OS. I have version 1903 and I was able to uninstall the KB4560960, and when I did my Brother MFC-5890CN printer (that I have been using for 11 years without any issues) started working again. I have also paused any updates for 7 days, but if this issue doesn't get resolved by Microsoft I will be forced to pause these updates permanently.

If you are having a printer issue (especially with Brother printers) after a recent update, you need to manually download and install a fix for your particular Windows version recently put out by Microsoft. Hello, I had a similar situation and I have a Brother MFC-685CW ... it took me almost 2 days to get my printer back working and I HAVE never had a problem with it ...anyway, look to see if you have KB4557957 in your updates and if so uninstall it ... I am not an expert by any means but that fixed mine, the problem is it kept trying to put it back in and the first time it did and the printer stopped and I took it back out, it worked again ... so I paused the updates and you may have to also ... Not sure what to do if they don't fix these updates... hope that helps, Chris

This has become ridiculous. I use auto updates but I won't use this setting anymore, because when Update KB4560960 installed, I was not able to use my printer any more. This is vital for my work. I have no printer now. I downloaded and reconnected whatever I could, and in looking up the information on the Brother website, it tells me to uninstall that particular Microsoft Windows update, and I could probably use my printer! I TRIED, and I can't even uninstall the update! What a crazy system! Up to the day that particular update was installed, my desktop and printer worked perfectly together for the past 3 years. What is wrong with you folks at Microsoft??? Why do you do this to people????? When does anything really work???? Now I have to figure out whether to buy a whole new printer, seeing if it would even connect......or just cry. Could someone kindly send me a solution to this problem?

Not sure if this will help, but check the version of your OS. If you are having a printer issue (especially with Brother printers) after a recent update, you need to manually download and install a fix for your particular Windows version recently put out by Microsoft. The fixes are on the Microsoft Update Catalog.
