Halo Master Chief Collection won’t install on pc and also says I have an update for MCC when it’s not even on my pc

Since the lastest update that added halo 3 i havent been able to install Halo MCC i keep getting error code 0x80073D12

In the end I solved it (at least for me, check out if it works for you as well).

I had the impression the game didn't install because in some way, even if I had the downloading drive for new applications set as the one with the most free disk space (D:), still the Store was actually trying to install on C:.

So I did the following: first go to the advanced settings for the Microsoft Store app and deactivate the option for making it run on background. Then open the Store app and cancel all pending downloads for Halo. Then go back to the app's advanced settings and click on the button to kill the process, then click on the button to reset the app. If for any reason you're prevented from taking these steps for some kind of error, restart the system first.

Then go to Settings > Storage and click on "Change Where New Content Is Saved". Now for me, when I opened this windows, everything was already set to D:, but in my opinion that was a plain lie. So, for the option regarding new apps, I switched to C (and clicked Apply) and then back to D (by clicking Apply again). Now at this point it might be that you'll see the classic Window's loading circles circling like for ever. If it does, still wait something like 30 or more seconds, then click on the Back arrow, and go back again to the "Change Where New Content Is Saved" page. You should see that the option for new apps is D again.

So now that theoretically the drive where to save the apps is REALLY set to D this time, open the microsoft store, select MCC and start downloading it (better not to select one of the single games that are part of the package, but you're free to try. Just to be sure I preferred to download the entire bundle).

    Guys don't waste too much time on this.

    There are entire forums dedicated to this problem.

    I am an IT specialist. My store works perfectly. I don't have any other problem.

    As a last resort I tried formatting a hard disk (1.81 TB) and dedicating it completely to HMCC installation. Problems and more problems.

    Those who for some reason didn't have any problems during the installation, at the first big update were met with the same error.

    Microsoft only ever responds with the same method. Reset Store, new user, format windows. Stop.

    You can't get a refund.

    If everything in the system works and others have had the same difficulties, the problem is in the installation.

    Useless to reset or format for the only video game that doesn't work-it doesn't install.

    It's a scam, you should make a collective action through lawyers or through some association.

    Here I wrote for the same problem, after the first answer with automatic solutions I have not been answered anymore.

    For anybody still having problems downloading MCC:

    Try selecting each individual game trying to download, and canceling it (uninstalling)

    this will then prompt the bundle file to say "manage" instead of prompting to install.

    Select manage, and click on the bundle to download which should be separate, at the top of the screen.

    This stopping the errors I was getting which were:

    1. It downloading and then stopping
    2. Saying free up disk space
    3. Only trying to download "add-ons" and not the bundle.

    Hey! i found a fix for this.

    assuming everyone has tryed to install the mcc through the microsoft store, you will not be able to as you can not select which drive it wants to install on. to fix this issue follow my steps:

    1. Download the XBOX GAME PASS application, you can google it or download from the microsoft store.
    2. Open the application - sign in - go to download page and cancel installation for MCC
    3. Now that you have cancelled the install, you will be able to search for MCC in the game pass game page.
    4. Click onto the game and you should see the install button so click onto that and it will ask you where you want to install the game, it will display all your Drives.
    5. THE GAME WILL NOW INSTALL!

    the main issue with the microsoft store page is that it did not allow a seperate drive installation, which would result in it resorting to the drive that has no space.
