Halo Master Chief Collection won’t install on pc and also says I have an update for MCC when it’s not even on my pc

Since the lastest update that added halo 3 i havent been able to install Halo MCC i keep getting error code 0x80073D12

In the end I solved it (at least for me, check out if it works for you as well).

I had the impression the game didn't install because in some way, even if I had the downloading drive for new applications set as the one with the most free disk space (D:), still the Store was actually trying to install on C:.

So I did the following: first go to the advanced settings for the Microsoft Store app and deactivate the option for making it run on background. Then open the Store app and cancel all pending downloads for Halo. Then go back to the app's advanced settings and click on the button to kill the process, then click on the button to reset the app. If for any reason you're prevented from taking these steps for some kind of error, restart the system first.

Then go to Settings > Storage and click on "Change Where New Content Is Saved". Now for me, when I opened this windows, everything was already set to D:, but in my opinion that was a plain lie. So, for the option regarding new apps, I switched to C (and clicked Apply) and then back to D (by clicking Apply again). Now at this point it might be that you'll see the classic Window's loading circles circling like for ever. If it does, still wait something like 30 or more seconds, then click on the Back arrow, and go back again to the "Change Where New Content Is Saved" page. You should see that the option for new apps is D again.

So now that theoretically the drive where to save the apps is REALLY set to D this time, open the microsoft store, select MCC and start downloading it (better not to select one of the single games that are part of the package, but you're free to try. Just to be sure I preferred to download the entire bundle).

I have the same issue but one temporary workaround is that I found it worked when I installed it on my internal storage device although its still ridiculous its a temporary fix maybe it helps

The problem is that someone has insisted that you can't separately download the games from the Master Chief Collection. You are forced to download the whole 120+GB even if you only choose to download Reach for example. Why this choice is taken from you as a customer is beyond me, but I think it fair to offer individual downloads if that is what is convenient. You have probably lost out on custom as a result of this choice, rather than encouraging it. Better to give the consumer the choice to DL the games one by one, through the MCC menu as you can on Steam.

Same problem, different code: 0x80070070

Selecting different hard drive with 400GB available keeps giving the error "unable to install, insufficient disk space".

Other apps from the store work, they install without a problem.

I've tried resetting the store even though there's no point in doing so.

I've tried to clean some temp (user, windows, update), same result.

I tried the beta version of the xbox launcher for windows, same result.

I have noticed that when trying to install the game on another hard disk the store creates a folder "Program Files-ModifiableWindowsApps".

I tried changing the write permissions on this folder by setting everyone as max. Same result.

The installation does not feel the free space available on the hard disk STOP.

I have a friend who got a pirated version of the whole package. Everything works for him!!! This is absurd.

The windows store is not suitable in a windows environment for computers where a 'setup.exe' works perfectly or gives anyone the possibility to understand any problems and how to solve them.

Microsoft wanted to force the moving of applications to the store to make it easier for less experienced people, but it doesn't work.

Another program "MSI dragon Center" for managing the motherboard" no problem. Then since they changed it from setup to store apps, it didn't work well anymore. Problem after problem.

A fragile, unstable platform that handles the installation of its own apps like a game. With no possibility to choose or understand anything in case of problems.

I'm a computer IT systems specialist.

In my system (on C:) there is Steam, Uplay, Gog galaxy, Origin, Epic Game launcher etc... ALL work and all set to install the games on the other disk and folder called "D:\GAMES" .

Everything works. Terabyte of working games.

The microsoft store does not.

Among other things, if you chooses another disk, the platform creates several folders that dirty the system.

And when you ask for help the only thing you hear is automatic answers with restart the store, reset the store, reset windows, retry.....absurd.

1) How can this be fixed? Should I ask for a refund?

2) Does anyone (microsoft representative) know if there is a possibility to download the whole package from internet and install it through the usual "setup.exe" avoiding the store?

3) Unrelated question, if I used a version of windows without the store, I wouldn't be able to install this game right?
